xXx is a flop in the domestic US market which is what matters most. It's also a flop in India so casting Deepika was no help at all for them. She was supposed to help with the Indian market and bring that audience to xXx which she couldn't do. Same happened to Aish's Pink Panther 2.

The movie made money mainly in China because of the Asian actors in it. It won't help DP because she can't do Chinese movies.

She didn't make any mark in HW and she didn't help them in the international market either. Maybe she is lucky and will get another chance with another role.

i understand the opinions

but i always LOL when some of those are presented as facts esp wrt to XXX not being an A list movie..and just now i heard it is D grade

wow

i don't think you have seen a D grade movie..surely you are ranking this grade quite high..if D grade movies start looking like this..i think we are in a very progressive stage wrt filmmaking..

She mismanaged her career and it's written all over her face. Sultan would have been a better move than Xander Cage. Massive BO smash that wasn't pure flowerpot and Adi C would have been happy with her (especially because Kat is on the outs with him)

If she isn't in the dwarf movie, what big roles can she get in the next couple years? Even the most promising of the young gen/ big directors are pretty booked (RK has Dutt, Dragon, Shoojit(?); RS has Gully Boy, Rohit Shetty, and Shimit Amin (? which prob will have a YRF girl or Adi C friendly choice), Varun has Judwaa, Shiddat, Shoojit, etc. Even Arjun/Ayushman have solid films with actresses in place) SLB's next is either Kangana or PC. If she does roles opposite Akshay that's even worse career suicide, and I doubt Hrithik budgets will allow for an A list actress fee without a big director.

More performance oriented directors would probably favor Kangana, PC, Kareena over her still.

I think she should focus on Bollywood films now. Unless she gets something really outstanding. PC also tried for 5-6 years before she landed with her TV show. Its sad to see both of them give it up for something not very good in Hollywood.

Whatever she did, she tried what she wanted to. Its her choice, her career. She said time and again that she didn't want to regret not doing it later, and she still maintains the same.

Slaming her for her choice in such crass words, shows your hatred towards her, If so, then why bother if she is there or out ?

You put your Bollywood work on hold for XXX: Return of Xander Cage. In that sense, do you think you have got what you were looking for from the film?

In my mind, I don't think I put anything on hold. I have been through a phase in my life where I have done four films at a time and honestly, if there was something [a film] that I really liked and wanted to do, I would have definitely taken it up. I would have managed two-three films. I have done it in the past and I can do that again. It's just that there was nothing exciting for me at that time, so it allowed me to focus completely on one film.

Bajirao Mastani was the last Hindi film that Deepika Padukone starred in.

There will be a two-year gap between your two Hindi films (Bajirao Mastani; 2015 and Padmavati). Does it make you insecure?

Nothing will ever define why I choose to do the films that I do. It's not that I haven't read scripts or haven't had the time. Like I said, if I wanted to, I could have (done films) but nothing excited me. I shall do a film only if my instinct tells me that I want to take up something. And if that film is Padmavati, which releases two years after Bajirao Mastani, so be it. I don't think I have ever thought about my career in terms of timelines or a game of chess, where a move today might have an effect later on.
