Raees and Kabil battle it out on day one!

2017 couldn't have started off on a better note. Its Shah Rukh Khan vs Hrithik Roshan at the box-office we're talking about, you guys!

On one-hand there is Shah Rukh Khan in his megastar glory fighting, romancing with all his dialoguebaazi in a true blue Hindi film. On the other there is a performance by Hrithik Roshan playing a blind man that's being touted a career best. Needless to say, it was D -day and as always it boiled down to what happens at the ticket windows.

To begin with, Raees had been allotted around 2800 screens and as per reports has recorded one of the best advance bookings of all times. It's opened to a great 70% occupancy with the morning shows that steeped up by evening. The film banked a whopping Rs. 20.42 crore which is amazing for a non-holiday plus the clash.

Kaabil, on the other hand that had 2400 screens in its kitty opened to an average occupancy of 30% clearly affected by the big clash ad banked Rs. 10.43 crore.

Today being a national holiday is the big day though. Raees will easily bank anything between 25 to 30 crore and Kaabil 16 to 20 crore. The Friday and weekend to come will also benefit both the films.

All said and done, both the films have been applauded equally as far as the reviews are concerned but at the ticket windows, Raees has clearly won this clash.

Raees Shines At The Overseas Box Office | Day 1 Business

Shah Rukh Khan's stardom has far reaching effects and it's a known fact that many of his foreign fans wait with bated breath for his films. His latest film Raees too was expected to fare wonderfully overseas.

The movie on Wednesday (25th January) made over 5.25 crores overseas, Raees is faring extremely well in most circuits abroad with the U.K circuit witnessing a good business relatively.
