Personal life crisis i guess. She is way more prettier than Ash it's hard to believe she couldn't make it big

She was very unique person. Besides her work in a few films I didn't make much of her as an actress. I don't think she really tried. In the beginning people advised her not to do item numbers she did comply. She did her own thing.

She never had it. All female superstars over the years had that feminine touch(okay to be a honest, dumb bimbo roles) because of which they garner a huge male fan following and female girls(fans I mean, W*F does female girl mean😆)would copy. Sushmita had a personality, an image of a strong, intelligent, liberal and independent girl, which will aspire a section of girls, but hardly appeal the a majority male fan following. Asides, she was never a great actor, she was another model turn actress, just that she was compared with Aish(another poor actor), people are like wow she was such a great actor, so much beautiful than Aish(I never found Sushmita beautiful tbh) and so on. While the truth is Sushmita was another hot model which a certain section of overhyped and many of the sheeps followed them.

She is admired so much here but at her peak - which was plateau at best - in the 90s BW she was not considered a great beauty, she didn't show any promise talentwise...

I still liked her over Aishwarya, Aish got the best roles( which she totally did injustice too) from the best banners, Sush had no such luck, she only got so-so roles

Her figure did not fit the mold of that time, too tall too thin , she had to get breast augmentation

She was not as feminine as the other leading ladies, Aish was more feminine, which was important at that time... She was not a great dancer either.

I don't really agree with people who say that she was a bad actor. I recently saw Filhaal again and honestly for a person who had to stand shoulder to shoulder with a powerhouse performer like Tabu, her performance in the film was outstanding. She was also awesome in Samay and Aankhen. Not to mention had electrifying chemistry with Shahrukh in Main Hoon Na regardless of what anyone thinks about the film.

It blows my mind that a woman like her never made it big nor did she ever really sign films with any big league directors. It's also her misfortune that she came around the same time as Ash.
