Baywatch has Rock who is more popular than VIN.
It is releasing in summer. It is complete pop corn comedy movie. It is on list of most anticipated summer flicks. Priyanka has face recall value in Hollywood now. If anything people will know who she is. Reviewers won't be able to ignore her.

Look at the combination-
Summer heat + Ocean + Nostalgia Factor +Rock + Comedy + Minimum clothes= People will visit it in theatre.

If there is a cameo from original players it will be huge boost.

Havent watched XXX so cant comment about DP or her role. But PC, she aint dumb to choose Baywatch. She has already established herself in the US. People over there know her name and people who dont know her name, know her as the lead star of quantico. So honestly a blink and miss appearance in baywatch is not going to hurt PC. It might not help her much but dont think it was a dumb decision.Post their HW movies, both DP and PC might land up with better projects. One never knows.

I absoluted hated that PC chose this movie when I first heard of it but after all the hype the movie and the rock had been receiving- I feel like it's going to do PC good! PC was VERY smart to do the TV show, i know it now! She is recognised in US because of the promotions she has already done for Quantico and because she is the face of show, Charmed the media that even though she is quite new they hype her up, has absolutely smashed the red carpet appearances that the media in whose good books she already is, talk about her more & more! Now comes Baywatch- I have realised now that Rock has a lot of hype, so the movie is going to do decently well irrespective of how it is. And then comes PC's master stroke of choosing to be the antagonist. She is going to stand out from the ensemble since she is not part of the gang of lifeguards, and since she is already known, the media will talk about her even if her role will be shorter than DP's which I do think is the situation. I think PC's gonna gain from this!

Now if all the above doesn't come true, somebody going to bump up my comment later on 🤣
