I agree. Kattappa could have handled the situation differently but what if things were out of his control?? Along with Sivagami he guarded the throne and Mahishmathi from enemies until the princes grew up, is it difficult for that Kattappa to safeguard Deva and her son from Bhalla ? He couldn't. He couldn't oppose Bhalla openly because 1) he was the King and 2) Bhalla had many kattappas backing him. If not Kattappa, then Bhalla would easily assign someone else to kill Baahu. Or if he went to save Baahu and Bhalla sensed that, he would have diverted Kattapa by sending some men to fight and at that point get someone to attack Baahu. If Kattappa had all the time and resources he would have done something to save everyone but probably at that point he was clueless and only thing in his mind was to save Deva and the baby.
Baahu, Bhalla and Kattappa are all brave and mighty but they are not superheroes. No matter how strong a person is there will be one point in time atleast where they become vulnerable during that time it's very easy to target and strike. In Tamil there is a proverb, ' Yaanaikum adi sarakkum' which means even elephants do slip it could be that weak moment for Kattappa and Baahu which Bhalla used in his favour.
Deva might not spare Kattappa if it was her life he was trying to save by killing Baahu but what about her new born baby ? As a mother can she give her child to death ?
Apart from Amarendra - good, Bijjala and Bhalla - bad ( even Bhalla has supporters to justify his acts ) it's difficult to categorize the others. We know Kattappa has killed Baahu yet we can't hate him. We can sense Sivagami has a role in Baahu's death but we can't oust her. Deva, she's a mystery. SSR has played well with his characters that's what makes it so tough for us to decide because we keep thinking could he have done that, could she have been that and so on
