Why didn't Hrithik ever become a superstar

Hrithik Roshan has been in the industry for nearly 17 years now. Although he had a strong debut and has some successful films under his belt, he never was able to truly become a star. Why is that?? I am not denying that he is a very succesful actor and is well loved in India, but why could he never reach the level of Khans I mean he clearly had everything, looks , dancing talent, acting ability, screen presence?? Feel free to discuss

A few reasons -

He never built a connection with audiences like AB did or the Khans did. The industry went gaga over him but audiences didn't really.

His film choices were/are appalling at times and he lacks chemistry with most actresses baring Kareena.

He's had major losses and then when's had a big hit, he's never really capitalised after it. After Koi Mil Gaya, he did Lakshya which failed and 2 years later he did Krishh, which was a success. Same with Dhoom 2, he did Jodha Akhbar after 2 years.

He's not what you would call bankable - Ranbir and Ranveer also have this problem - they can't sell a film on their star power alone, which is worrying for the industry as its a pre-requisite for a leading man, regardless how good an actor you are.

Probably most importantly, he comes across as way to into himself and lacks any sort of humour, charm or personality.

I personally can't see him ever being a major player, unless there's a massive U-turn somehow.

After Kaho naa pyaar hai,his next few films flopped. He started becoming choosy after that.Most of his successful films except JA and may be ZNMD were his papa's films.Upar se his injury also made him do less work.

But I would still call him a successful actor.He is not flop actor like Abhishek and Vivek.

Hrithik, Akshay,Ajay may not be in the league of the khans but they are definitely superstars.😆

What I mean to say is that Hrithik never fulfilled his potential, you as well as I know that Hrithik was supposed to be the next big thing and surpass every actor in bollywood and dominate but he never managed to reach that level quite, although no doubt he is a superstar just not on that high level he was projected to be
