I was just thinking, AB's superstar years were alot shorter than the Khans.. he started losing momentum in the mid 80s right? So thats what 10-15 years of being top of your game? Whereas the Khans have lasted much longer...
Remember AB movies from mid 90s? Bade Mian Chhote Mian? 😆

But why does he need to replace anyone?Did Khans replace RK/DA/DK or AB??No one can stay in the industry forever and the public decides who they want to watch and who they don't anymore..

I hope Ranbir instead of focusing on becoming superstar/megastar concentrates on good movies and tries to be like his dad professionally. Rishi Kapoor held his own (with good movies and bad too)when AB,Shatrughan S,Dharmendra,Vinod Khanna,Jeetender and his own uncle Shashi Kapoor were ruling the 70s and early 80s..He is known today for his acting and still getting different roles like agneepath,K&S,patiala house..

p.s-some comments here are so ridiculously funny that I doubt whether they are fans/haters or just using reverse psychology..

He left industry in mid. No one will have stardom like AB and Rajesh khanna. They were single man industry when at top. There was nothing shared about them. AB literally demolished his opponent. By the time 90's came and AB was back, things had changed. It took him time to do makeover.

This is interesting story since you used chose main bade mian

He was paired with govinda who was indisciplined like hell but was bigger draw. AB's return was not glorious. You know how punctual AB is. He was irritated as hell but he swallowed it. Then AB started finding his footing. He did few experiments, re calibrated his act. Got success.

When it came to Hum, AB had started finding his feet. On first day of shoot he told his director, if govinda is not on time, he should be out. Guess what. Govinda came on shoot on time every single day of shoot. AB moved to parallel role but no body dared to cross him again. He became mega star.

about the roles he did in

Rocket Singh...

Roy...

List goes on...

The characters are complex...may be at times hard to digest but yes...he did it with grace...

Rocket Singh reminds me of my Friend who with all odds really did well what he didn't did it in his academic year ...so yes i can relate with Rocket Singh and his dreams as i saw the same dreams in my friend

When salman was at ranbir' age aka at 34 he is already a superstar giving blockbuster movies like MPK, HAHK,HDDCS etc and many more and his success rate compared to his contemporaries during 90-99...

Success Ratio i.e Above Average or better

Salman Khan - 52%
Shah Rukh Khan - 39%
Ajay Devgn - 36%
Aamir Khan - 35%
Akshay Kumar - 24%

And RK till now is not a star on his own let alone superstar...it takes Saat Janam to reach salman' stardom for him...period

Its too tough to happen now. At one time it seemed Ranbir would be next big superstar. On point of Salman Khan well inspite of the criminal cases against him, still he is a super star and has a strange pull towards his fans. They simply love him despite his shortcomings. Salman has an appeal to the boys in a very macho way, the style the persona appeals to them. So it would be unfair to connect that with Ranbir. Ranbir comes across as a more jovial, friendly and well behaved person (he may be a cheater but thats different). I think Ranbir may have a place like Hrithik used to have earlier. The KHANS is too tough, unless he is really destined to.
