When Kajol signed up to be a part of the sequel to Dhanush's Tamil blockbuster, Velaiyilla Pattathari aka VIP, it caused quite a flutter among her fans. This is her second movie after her much hyped comeback in 2015 movie Dilwale, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. However this is not her first foray into South cinema, as she had already made her debut nearly two decades ago in Minsara Kanavu, which was later dubbed and released in Bollywood as Sapnay. The sequel, titled VIP 2, is directed by Dhanush's sister in law, Soundarya Rajinikanth.

As a special New Year, Soundarya released the first look of her upcoming movie, okay make that two first looks of the movie, on her Twitter timeline. She had captioned these images as As the year comes to an end and a #NewYear begins ...here's my gift to all #Dhanush fans #VIP2 #FirstLookPosters #TeaKadaiRajasAreBack #2017'. Naturally, the fans were jubilant about this development and they congratulated her for giving them such an unexpected treat. Among these, even the main star Dhanush also sent his wishes, "Thank you soundarya:) that's a very sweet gesture. #vip2.thank you all for always standing by me. Love u all. Happy new year."

The first poster has Dhanush in a construction engineer's garb facing off against Kajol, who is rumoured to play an antagonist in the movie. The second poster has Dhanush sitting in front of a tea shop sipping tea, surrounded by a few unemployed men.


During a recent media interaction at the red carpet of Sansui Stardust Awards 2016, Kajol was asked about her new move down South. She was questioned about how it was to return to Tamil cinema with VIP 2. To which, she replied that she is very apprehensive and it was exciting to return to Tamil cinema after a very long time. When asked about how did she find Dhanush as her co-star, she reveals that she found him to be a very fine actor. About working with Soundarya Rajinikanth, Kajol said that though she has never seen her previous work (Kochadaiiyaan), she finds Soundarya knows what she is talking about and they both get along very well.

I loved the first one..hope the sequal betters the first one.

Poster is good. But Soundarya as director, nothing to write home about.I just hope it is half as entertaining as the previous one.

Is the Sameer Tahir same as the one that directed Kali? Never knew he is a cinematographer.

Yes , He was the director of Kali but predominantly he is a cinematographer . He was the cinematographer of Big B , Nidra

Damn i saw the director's round table episode and it was all Kajol this and Kajol that. I wonder why KJo was mentioning her so much. And i found the joint movie that Ram Madhvani was planning with Kajol and Karan in the lead to be very funny.

gosh I hope she and kjo are back to being friends again. I will have to watch the episode. bt how I hope they friends again and kjo pairs her with akki in his new film with him
