All the three Khans - Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir have been ruling the industry for the last few years. All of them have their own fan followings. At the box office, the Khans have been neck to neck throughout their career. However, Aamir has taken a small yet very important lead. Aamir has to his name quite a few significant records including the highest grossing film and highest overseas grosser. And with Dangal releasing tomorrow, we expect him to capitalise on these records and extend his lead. Our editor-in-chief Tushar Joshi saw the film yesterday and he was mesmerised by the actor's performance. And according to trade prediction, Dangal might just be able to break the Rs 400 crore barrier. But with so little publicity too, how does Aamir manage to do this? And what are the lessons Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan should learn from Aamir Khan? We give you 5 lessons they should learn from the Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood. Take a look!
# Limited and smart budgeting
Aamir Khan is a marketing whiz. He knows how to recover his cost of production even before the release of his film. For those of you who don't know, Aamir Khan's Dangal is already in profit even before its release. The film was made on a budget of Rs 70 crore, but the satellite right were sold for Rs 75 crore. So now, the box office collection will be their profit. On the contrary, Salman Khan's Sultan and Shah Rukh Khan's Fan were made on a huge budget. So much so that the satellite and music right couldn't recover the movie. Hence, their box office collections couldn't give them a huge profit.
# Less but smart promotions
In the day and age when stars like Salman and Shah Rukh are going across India and on every other TV show to promote their film, Aamir Khan has stayed away from the media. Aamir believes in smart promotional strategies. For example, the actor and his team had made attendants in cinemas shave their heads to promote Ghajini. The actor has also let the Dangal girls - Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh speak to the media rather than him. He feels that the movie is based on the girls, so he should let them do the talking. On the other hand, Salman and Shah Rukh interact with the media the most. They go all out to promote their films, spending lakhs during city tours. ALSO READ - Aamir Khan's Dangal vs Salman Khan's Sultan: Who won the advance booking battle?
# Let the supporting cast shine
If you have seen an Aamir Khan film, you will agree with this point. Aamir never overshadows the supporting cast in any of the films. Be it 3 Idiots or P.K. or Dangal, you will see equal importance being given to the supporting cast. This not only enriches the movie experience, but also helps the continuity of the story. On the other hand, in most of Salman and Shah Rukh films, we see more importance being given to their character. We guess they should do more movies like Dangal or Dear Zindagi...
# Let the story shine
Aamir Khan hasn't given any interviews before the release of Dangal. This is quite clearly coz he doesn't want to talk about film and let the film speak for itself. He wants everyone to see the movie, post which he will give interviews. In fact, during the press meets too, he hasn't spoken much about the movie. And when comparisons with Sultan came up, he told the audience to see the movie and let them decide for themselves. SRK and Salman, on the other hand, have been going to every TV show to promote their film. # Have one release, but make it count
Every film that Mr Perfectionist comes out with, you see 100 per cent perfection. Yes, barring a few minor mistakes, Aamir's films are really perfect. This is because he dives into his character and sees to it that every small detail is correct. He might come with just a film with a year, but it will have perfection and a message. In fact, all his recent films - Dangal, P.K. and 3 Idiots have also had powerful messages associated with it. Salman and Shah Rukh sometimes rush through their films and get two-three releases a year. However, most of their films, barring a few, don't have a strong message. They should now understand that cinema is a way to influence their fans and incorporate a message in their movies. And in the rush of finishing films, they miss out on the detailing and we can see some glaring mistakes!
