Without KARAN, ALIA Can't survive in films? - Page 2

Maybe now she can survive on her own, given not much competition in her age bracket

Karan can promote people like hell. He did it with Shah Rukh, he's going to clearly do it with Alia. But he can't make them stars. They make themselves stars, and she's clearly, clearly one of the best of the current lot. In fact, I'd probably put her right after Vidya, Priyanka and Kangana if I think she's that good when I watch DZ. She's surprised me with her movie choices, and whether Dharma or not, for someone who's 3-4 years in this industry only, she's doing some damn good work. Karan can propel her, but she's creating a brand name for herself, which in my eyes, even Varun and Siddharth haven't been able to do yet.


Also, I like her no-nonsense attitude. She's not too diplomatic, not too fake. She clearly states she believes in competition, but she still does 'hatke' movies instead of say, Varun doing all-out commercial movies (baring Badlapur). Also, she keeps her personal life, personal. Thumbs up from my side, and I swear I never thought I'd be saying this when I watched SOTY. Sometimes you got to give credit when it's due.

With that said, you can't deny the fact that Dharma/Karan is a huge part of why she is where she is today. There are many talented people out there, but they don't receive the same opportunities and are sidelined or have to really work for the opportunities they receive. Alia has received those countless opportunities from Karan and without them today she may not have been where she is. Dharma makes certain kinds of films..and if they do well, you can't go wrong. She would not have been in the same position today if she was doing her father's films for instance (with the same talent). So, yes..she may be able to survive NOW..but, if Karan didn't help her the way he has thus far, the picture may have been very different for Alia.
