Put him in front of a Hindu audience to raise money and he will say anything. He is a salesman. Four hours later he will inveigh against all aliens, immigrants and suspicious foreigners. He and the anti-immigrant ugly Americans he has empowered and stirred up don't know or care about the difference between Muslims, Sikhs or Hindus, Jains, Buddhists or anyone else. He takes support from the Klu Klux Klan. When your children get beat up at school by the kids who are "American" bullies and whose parents are pro-Trump, then you will see the effect of Trump on his followers. There are already reports of children being bullied by right-wing children (God help us) in or outside of school.When his people talk about Trump, most of them say what they love about him is that he has liberated them by fighting back against being "politically correct". Listen to the recordings of his followers being interviewed. I think the pro-Trump Hindus have not understood what this actually means to Americans, but let me tell you, the uneducated white middle-class has not misunderstood him for a minute. Understand this and DO NOT FORGET: Trump is making a direct attack on the idea of a multicultural American society. That means anyone who calls themselves Indian-Americans or Indonesian- or Anything-Americans. Except of course these people don't mind European-Americans, though they had better speak only English in public.
This is the ugly prejudice that lies under the verneer of civilization in American society. Trump has tapped into it and has ridden it to the republication nomination. If his people get in control or get violent ALL Indians and South Asians and all darker -skinned American citizens can potentially be vulnerable. Being middle or even upperclass, being well-to-do, being highly educated will not protect you or your children. Not even being elderly !
If you enjoy saying that both candidates are alike or the same, you really, really don't get it. People who say or think this do not want to see what is really going on in America. Think of this: Hillary Clinton will not attack immigrant -Americans in a million years. Okay, her suggestion that the Muslim community inform on violent plotters is more than a bit improbable...as if radicalized Muslims tell everybody in their social circle if they are planning some awful attack.
But Trump has built his entire political ascendancy and political career on attacking immigrant Americans. A little difference there.There are other reasons to hate Trump: in a nutshell, climate change, the Supreme court nominations, Putin meddling in US politics, racism, lack of mental acuity, fifth-grade attention span, bully, lies spouted every thrity seconds, unstable, no regard for the truth whatsoever, in reality an unsuccessful businessman, a cheater of people who work for him, and also he is a generally despicable human being. "I can do whatever I want with them". And we could go on. But you get the picture.
Fear mongering at its best. Pathetic. And why should all Indian- Americans who are with Trump are assumed to be with him only because he has said a few things that some people think is anti muslim? So talking about Islamic terrorism is spouting anti muslim rhetoric now?.
I see a lot if jumping up and down in panic for very little reason especially in the Indian community.
Anyone with a lack of mental acuity, attention span of a fifth grader would not be where he is today. As for lying and cheating? Hilary is a lifelong politician. Do I need to say anything else? She is like the Sonia Gandhi of the US.
Too bad, Trump is Mr President now and everyone just has to deal with it.
