honestly i don't find him that great...he is been around since long but there are hardly one or two performances of his worth talking about...i liked him in kaminey and haider..even in jab we met it was kareena who stole the show...i find him a bit laidback..he doesn't really work on his character..except for him being an amazing dancer there is nothing much abt him to write home about!

His screen presence is near to zero. You can easily over look him. I liked him in UP though.

He is a good actor but not terrific at all. I've never felt that he has even taken up challenging roles (even if we count Haider as the star of the movie was Tabu while in UP, he was OTT). He has done mostly Priya Darshan movies which were truly a waste of talent, energy and time. He's still got so many chances despite having so many flops. JWM too did not make him stand out as an actor and Padmawati is one such movie that can help him as an actor and performer.

shahid has face that can not be counted in as a
baby's nor as a mature adult..that is why the roles
he gets remains a role never grows as a character..
hence not much clean hits to his credit though he is
a fab dancer n good actor as well..

Because people expect too much from him. He has it all yet ... He is non controversial, doesn't have A grade gay directors backing him up ... Gives a bad performance or good ... he has no strong connections/BW families in BW to hype him up for no f'in reason ... So of course. He is still young enough to create his own path and group in BW.

Definetely noo bad luck he had a lot of chances before any of the youngsters came onscreen to find his own audiences. Like someone said something is missing the X-factor. Else he has everything going he looks good dances good and acting is not bad either also dated top actresses he had also a lot of time to get friendly and make connections with top directors. Of course he has a fan following cause he is been for so long in the industry but still people are not thaaat extremely interested in him

No. His personality sucks a**.

Personally, I could say he was good actor only after watching Haider. I see goodluck in fact, most of his movies initially weren't so good and he didn't disappear like Niel Nitin Mukesh etc. His career started getting attention by public after Kaminey I guess.. but he did prove himself as a good actor of substance in Haider. And althought I didn't watch Udta Punjab, just watching 2 songs(Chitta Ve, title song), one could say how he gets into his role. Those psycho/drugged eyes ...not many can do that quite like him. I hope he gets to play more characters that explore depth of human emotions, psychology, darker side of life, part of life that requires deep introspection(for example) - he seems to be very good at moulding himself and can swim to the depths - he is most believable only then.
