When Anushka says she's middle class and an outsider, it's actually true. Funny how they share these stories now but it's telling and puts whatever she's achieved (at the very least being able to stick around) in perspective.

Very true. And this says a lot about Ranbir as well. She's clearly not from his upper-class BW world and yet she's one of his closest friends. I bet it must be really refreshing for him to get along with someone who has come from a different background and therefore has had different experiences and viewpoints from him.

Apart from her middle class background and outsider status, Anushka also has the added baggage of her anxiety issues and a non-conformist attitude...so it really surprises me that she's stuck around because people who are disadvantaged via their class status tend to climb the ladder by 'faking it before making it' (i.e. being big people pleasers, learning the ways of high society, networking and subscribing to generic opinions that won't ruffle feathers)...an odd story with lots of ruts that say she shouldn't really be here.

Anushka has pretty bad anxiety. She's said as much in her interviews. And if you watch carefully enough, you can tell with her body language when she's feeling the most anxious.
