I wonder how the touch of the nose feels after a nose job... how does it feel when they have flu and keep wiping and blowing their nose? Do they have any sensation?? What happens in a nose job basically? Anyone know anyone else with cosmetic surgery or know about this???
Discuss 😛

MODS - DO not shift this to other board! Nose jobs/plastic surgery is a Bollywood topic because every other actress has gone under the knife one way or another! 😛

Hilarious! But not realistic. Plastic surgery is only what it's called! Rhinoplasty is just reshaping (almost always reducing - not many people want a bigger nose) the native tissue. The post surgical nose is exactly as likely to "melt in the sun" as the presurgical nose because they are made of the same thing.

I think everyone in South Korea gets plastic surgery. Nose job is nothing, they get their jaw shaved, eyelid surgery starts in like infancy.
Sad really. I wish plastic surgery had never been invented like for the face.

And makeup too for that matter. I mean you see a girl at night and she's looks like a queen and in the morning, you can't even recognize that she's the same person from last might.

I remember seeing a rhinoplasty procedure on tele, they broke the nose to reconstruct it.
Now that I think about it, it's a sure shot way to deter people.

an intresting article that i found relating to the topic

Kate Middleton's 'cute nose with rounded tip' is a hit with women all over the world these days. The number of those demanding a similar fixture on their face has trebled since 2011. In India, too, women are increasingly going for rhinoplasty " but with disastrous consequences. Surgeons say 55% of nose jobs they get are those that have already gone wrong in the first instance. What's worse is that patients here don't even haul up the clinics as these are mostly hush-hush affairs.

Rhinoplasty, the third most popular cosmetic surgery after liposuction and breast enhancement, is a complex procedure. Neha Gupta, a 28-year-old in a service industry, has learnt that the hard way. She had a hump on her nose and got it removed from a nursing home. But so much cartilage was removed that her nose became pinched. "Each time I leaned to one side, my nose would also tilt. People would gawk at me."

Earlier the realm of celebrities, rhinoplasty is fairly common now. According to a 2010 survey of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, India ranked fourth in the world with regard to rhinoplasty, cornering 11.5% of the total market.

Mumbai-based plastic surgeon Dr Mohan Thomas says, "Some 70% of my rhinoplasty clientele is women and out these more than a half are redo cases." Dr Sunil Choudhary, director of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at a private hospital in Delhi, concurs. Out that out of the 55 rhinoplasties he did in 2011, 4-5 were redo cases; in 2012, out of 60 nose jobs, 20 were revised. "But they come from all parts of India, even small towns," he says.

The jump in redo cases is because of the spawning of small nursing homes and clinics, many of which do not have either the expertise or the infrastructure. With great premium on looks today, thanks to reality and fashion shows, female aspirants often make a beeline for doctors who can correct that crooked, fat or thin nose. But often with horrible end results. "The worst thing to do is give an incongruent nose. Millimetres are equivalent to a foot on a nose," says Thomas.
One of the reasons for bad nose jobs is the irrational use of silicone implants. "It gives quick results but can come out. Some doctors also take out too much cartilage, leading to the collapse of the skeletal framework (called saddle nose) and making it flat.

Some of the redo jobs are done after the nose has already gone through 3-4 surgeries. The patient comes with breathing problems and is psychologically distressed. There is so much internal scarring that normal structures can't be seen. It can take 4-5 hours of corrective surgery, whereas normal rhinoplasty can be done in two-and-a-half hours, says Choudhary.

Sadly, many patients don't even take the discharge summary with operation details from wherever the nose job is done as they want to keep it quiet. Getting Kate Middleton's nose is easier said than done.

In a profession where you are judged so much on how you look, I understand why people consider getting a cosmetic surgery done.
There's no shame in it, IMO. People will always judge.

I agree. People get all moralistic about plastic surgery but have no problem removing body hair, changing hair color, changing what they eat and how they work out specifically for the way they look not for their health, pierce ears, pierce nose, obsess about clothes, wear so much makeup you can't recognize them without and that's all okay. 😆

It does bother me when people do too much because of low self esteem and they just can't ever feel comfortable with themselves or if they are doing it for other people. But one rhinoplasty to fix a nose that bothers them doesn't bother me at all.

No idea. But Sridevi's and Shilpa Shetty's nose seems to be in pretty good shape. I always imagined that their's would fall off too someday just like MJ's but no.
