In India Film stars are treated as god by many, apart from money, just think about the moral boost and emotional support these families must have felt being supported and presented by Akshay.

@bold - exactly! this isn't about money or how much money u are giving but it's more about letting the families of armymen know that they are not alone in their tough times... it's a huge gesture of emotional support, if one thinks about it, leaving aside their negativity

Something Frm the past ( few months old )

Soon after the Nirbhaya incident in Delhi, Akshay Kumar along with Aditya Thackeray had set up the Women's Self Defence Centre (WSDC) to impart free martial training to women in a bid to teach them self-protection (Read more). Looks like their efforts are bearing fruit as one of the students of the centre single handedly tackled a molester and made sure that he was arrested.

Shreya Naik, 19, is a second year BMS student in a suburban college in Andheri. She enrolled in WSDC along with her sister after her mother learnt about it. What Shreya, who had just moved out of the basic level to intermediate level, didn't know is that she will soon be putting all that she's learnt at the centre to test. Last week at around 6.30 pm, Shreya was walking back from her work place where she's interning as part of the project for college. While walking through a particularly deserted lane in Andheri, she saw a young man in a waiter's uniform leering at her.

Shreya says, "He suddenly came close and pounced on me. I started hitting him with one hand and with the other hand I was trying to call my mother to come down, as my house was just about 30 seconds away. He tried snatching my phone away as he didn't want me to alert anyone. I caught his hair and gave him a 'hammer', a style of attack taught to me at the centre. He started pleading with me to let go, saying 'Bas haath hi lagaya, aur kya kia...'. I caught hold of his collar and started dragging him towards the main road. He was trying hard to get away but I held on to his collar. Later, some people helped me and one person called the police. Within 10-15 minutes the police arrived and he was arrested."

Confirming the story, Nalawde, the senior PI of D N Nagar police station said, "Yes, we have registered the FIR. This boy works in a nearby restaurant. The girl complained of molestation and we arrested him right then. He will be presented in front of the magistrate shortly. We are in constant touch with the girl's father, so she has nothing to worry about."

Shreya says she owes it to the centre for giving her the kind of confidence that she displayed in tackling with her molester. "I was a really meek girl and would get scared if someone touched me and never had the guts to complain or scream at the person. But in the centre we are taught such techniques for self-defence that it has given me immense self-confidence. I am really grateful to Akshay sir for inspiring us to be able to take care of ourselves. My parents didn't want to me to lodge a police complaint because they were worried about me, but I did and I am speaking about it so that every woman learns to take care of herself by learning self-defence, " she says.

Source close to the star said that he is really impressed with the girl and he plans to felicitate her soon after he comes back from London, where he's shooting.

My mistake and hence my apologies. I missed that. And yes I do a lot for my country India like watching movies in cinemas instead of watching pirated versions of films online so that the taxes collected via sale of tickets at the box office goes to government coffers which in turn is used to pay salaries of the soldiers and other men in uniform when they are alive and pensions when they are retired or dead, This is better than giving a one time cheque of Rs.5 lakhs to Rs, 10 lakhs which would get over in 1 year max and then no one will check on them after brownie points are won. And yes I do other stuff too but dont want to discuss them here so as not to give out personal information. I hope this satisfies you and inspires you to contribute to your original motherland ie Nepal atleast by watching all movies you do watch in the cinemas wherever you are.

Akshay is always one of the highest tax payers, so his money also goes to government coffers which in turn is used to pay salaries of the soldiers and other men in uniform when they are alive and pensions when they are retired or dead. Dont look at the amount paid, whether it lasts one year or one day, it atleast gives the person a hope. Seriously we don't need to be cynics at everything.

Your intentions might not be to do so but piracy means=contribution to money that goes out of the system=this black money funds terrorists in the long run. For every illegal thing WE do we strengthen terrorists. If you watch movies in the cinemas a good percentage of that money goes to the government which in turn has positive implication for anything funded by the government as there is more money in their hands.

I know that , bt sorry your whole post stating that doing this makes one less Indian is absolutely Wrong .
Being patriotic is more then contributing through these taxes .

Yes paying is our job for nations welfare ... And there are many ways of paying taxes and increasing fund . But it's certainly not a parameter to measure Patriotism .

And I do watch movies in theatre by sorry can't watch all .
I have manage my whole month in the salary whatever I get after paying my taxes which I pay with all honesty .

Please this Privavcy thing makes sense when there are few movies releSsing I entire year . A normal middle class movie buff can't afford to watch all movies in theatre

Article on how BW piracy funds terrorists

How Bollywood is funding the Indian Mujahideen

It all started when I was travelling in a local train on the Harbour line - a long and arduous journey.

Part of the sleepy passenger brigade, who had boarded the local train from Panvel for Andheri, I was seated next to a teenager, who was permanently glued to his 10-inch smart-phone.

I couldn't resist and quietly sneaked in a glance.

It appeared that he was watching the trailer of the latest blockbuster Grand Masti. Five minutes later, I realised that it was not a trailer, but the entire film that he had downloaded on his phone.

I nudged him gently and with great reluctance, he looked at me. I gestured that I wanted to talk to him.

I asked him how he could download the full film when it was released just a day before. And his answers sent me on an investigation trail.

The conclusions of this investigation gave me a shocking result: A large part of the Indian Mujahideen operations are actually funded by Bollywood movies!

This terrorist outfit directly benefits to the tune of Rs 900- Rs 1000 crore (annually) by distributing pirated films and Bollywood movies account for more than 75% of that amount.

How Bollywood funds a terror outfit

When I used to work as a crime reporter in a leading English newspaper published from Kolkata, there was a district superintendent of police (SP) who struck a rapport with me. Years later, he was posted with the IB (Intelligence Bureau). I decided to get in touch with him again.

After talking to him and that boy, I could piece together a story of how money is flowing into the coffers of the terror networks and how they are minting money through Bollywood films.

Following is a step-by-step process of how the Indian Mujahideen is making billions from Bollywood.

1) Agents copy from master copies: The piracy starts in smaller towns of India and reportedly in some specific areas on the outskirts of Delhi. As soon as the masterprint reaches the movie hall, the owner or an employee of the theatre allows an agent' to copy the film. In some cases, where technology is absent to copy a film from the master copy, they simply play it on the big screen and then shoot it with a video camera. The transfer and the distribution of the films are directly managed and supervised by agents of the Indian Mujahideen.

2) The copies are then digitally mastered: As soon as the first copy is made, the video file is transferred to locations in Pakistan (specifically on the outskirts of Karachi). The agent who had made the copy is paid through hawala. This agent vanishes from the network the moment the video file is found to be in order. The copies are again mastered in Pakistan and digitally revised to make it look better. A separate downloadable format is made for smartphones. Now, the files are ready to be transferred again.

3) The files start reaching certain video sharing sites: There are about 200 private networks and video sharing sites who buy these files from its Pakistani counterparts. These video sharing sites and private networks buy the files and then put it up on their sites for downloads. Now, you need to pay money for the downloads and only members can download these films. Websites who get access to these films need to pay somewhere around Rs 10 lakhs each to get access to these films. Once that money is paid to a particular account, the file is transferred to again. The terrorist organisation now completely moves away from the network.

4) You can now download the film: The whole operation (including money transfers) takes only 48 hours and generally by every Saturday, films are available for individual users. Some websites and networks offer the download for free and earn their money by including advertisements from po*n sites. There are others who charge a nominal fee for these downloads, which usually ranges between Rs 100 to 200 INR.

5) How Asian NRIs patronise the Indian Mujahideen: I am sure there are millions who download the film in India, but a majority of the patrons' who fund the Indian Mujahideen are downloading the films abroad. Most of these Bollywood fans don't have access to a Bollywood film in a theatre and they don't want to wait till they can get a legal DVD of the film. Just ask around and you will realise that downloading latest Bollywood releases is an established practice for people living abroad.

Why the Indian agencies are a sitting duck

Previously Bollywood movies used to be pirated in DVDs. There used to be duplicator machines and DVD burners that used to copy and manufacture the pirated DVDs.

That practice has now become pre-historic.

Now, pirating a Bollywood film entails a few mouse clicks and an internet connection.

The Indian intelligence has been unable to check the new piracy techniques and this terror network is expanding with each passing day.

Though the US government had been urging the Indian Intelligence to do something about it, the agencies have been reduced to sitting ducks simply because they don't have the technology to scuttle these networks who are operating online.

I am sure that even after reading this article, a lot of you will STILL go and download the latest Bollywood release on your smart phone, just like that boy who was travelling with me on the train.

Remember, you are contributing to the terror fund of the Indian Mujahideen.

The bombs that they make with your money also kill babies and women. Just check on the net about how many babies and women they have killed so far.

Take some time to look at the horrific images and videos.

Now go and download the movie.
