do you like the strategy done by movies like BM and ADHM?

now a days most of the movies are releasing their trailers after song promos..

ADHM is doing that after buleya and title track gone viral..BM did that after deewani mastani became a big hit..BBD did that after kala chashma grabbed attention

not that it has always worked

but i feel these days with so much of social media etc..movie makers are releasing trailer 3 weeks prior to release after song promos to keep it fresh in audience's mind..earlier there was a time when trailers were released as long as 3 months before the movie release

i think this strategy is a good idea..songs become famous and trailer remains fresh in people's mind..

thoughts?

I feel kind of the opposite. I would only love a trailer and audio versions of the song released, but that is not possible. But now we get clips, teasers of songs. I feel overloaded and the movie experience in the theater is diminished.
Even though I come a lot on this forum, I avoid the mega threads about movies which include filming details. I may miss a few things and unintentionally jump to conclusions about external things happening in the movie in terms of promo, but I would rather be surprised and not know than know everything. I listen to songs on audio juke box but I rarely watch the songs except perhaps once even in the forum to keep it fresh in case it is a movie I plan on watching.

i agree too
i also liked D3's strategy

only some seconds teasers of songs..

keep the experience of discovering it in the movie rich

i feel over exposure and over promotion is the worst these days..keep it minimal coz big stars and social media already does so much of it that you feel you have already seen the movie and that mystery goes missing

aamir does a great job at under promoting his movies..he has also never gone to these stupid reality shows to over promote his movies which i feel should stop seriously..

Production houses/marketing teams are trying to come up with something new and refreshing. Though this one aint exactly new but still..

Personally i feel public memory is short so initially grabbing attention with hit songs and then later releasing the trailer to a closer to release date is a good strategy!!

Go Dhoom:3 way. Don't show too much. Don't bore/annoy audience going everywhere.
One thing Aamir said during D3 promotions... he said we have the budget to air our promos with big TV shows, those who don't have the budget should go to those shows to promote their movie. (The D:3 team only went to some news channels and avoided all the KBC, Tarak's Ulta wagera)

So instead of wasting their money on over promotion they should just air their promos with Big Boss, Tarak Mehta etc.

par would this strategy work in case of 'climbers' (tumhara hi word hai woh analogy achi lagi thi😳😆) and not everyone watches TV serials? Kapil and such shows have a wider appeal and attract different segments of audience 🤔

I remember much of the 90s there were no such "trailers" it was basically song promos with montage scenes from the film

Climbers and not so populars should take the second route (Jin ke budget nahin hai woh wala route).

@ Green: Issi liye hi toh.. un popular shows ke beech beech mein ad ki tarha apni promos dal do. Hit TV show wale ko paise khilao.. yah maamu banao ke woh tumhare movie ke baare mein kuch keh ke movie ka thoda promotion kar de.. Jaise Aamir ne topi pehnaya tha Sallu ko Big Boss mein.

Oh I forgot.. a promotional strategy that worked 3-4 years back may not work today. People are getting smart... people these days get bored easily... So they should keep changing these promotional strategies. People are fedup of APKGK/YJHD/HSKD/Tamasha/CE/Dilwale type promotions... agar apni movie ko dubana chahte ho toh woh sadela formulas abhi bhi use kar sakte ho.
