Nothing works if movie is bad !! WOM is real king.
Songs or trailer or YT views - nothing matters anymore . People have lost trust in critics and promotions .

So SLB start the trend and Kjo copied?

But copying is also an art..and you need to understand what worked.

BM's teaser released way back in July ! It was grainy,with sepia tinted war scenes.


Then he released Deewani Mastani in October..just the song sequence..no other scenes.Again mono toned.

Then came the big trailer with Kashi waving the big colorful flag,rangoli..all jewel toned..

Pinga,Malhari..each distinct and with its own controversies.songs were never diluted with other scenes.

BM made 358 crores world wide..only 14 crores less than DW which had double the screens in UK,UAE,Malaysia and 20% more screen space in India.
It was the biggest clash ever.

Anyone expecting ADHM to do similar business?

Now for ADHM..the teaser and song promos all look the same..with dozens of similar scenes..why release a song,when you dont have the confidence to show the visuals.

Either make a special video like Har Har Har..or showcase the song like AD did in Drakhaas.

Kjo has no idea what he is doing..He is relying on the music-yet not one song video yet😲Just RK taking turns necking the two women.His songs are full of angst..but visuals are anything but..

I think the less you show the better.
But, whatever little is shown should be shown in such a way that it leaves the viewers intrigued, and leave them wanting for more.

It's just a trick, no matter how empty the story may be, you can pique the interest of viewers by how you project in 2 minutes.

Video songs also shouldnt be released before the movies hit the theatres.. only audio songs, that too only such songs that will not give away the story much.. or maybe do it in a way that leaves us confused and unable to take a guess. Or else, release one or two video songs just the week when movie is set to release. It will be a rage on YT and people may be more intrigued..

Promoting and all also... is unnecessary, frankly speaking. Bas... 2 minute teasers/trailer/promo on TV, Youtube, radio..

EDIT - If the movie director cannot pique the interest or curiosity of viewers in a 2 minute video, I doubt he is a good director, and doubt he can show much in 2 hours..
But then, now that I think about the kind of movies that are being made and the standard of directing/quality of movie-making, it is no surprise the film makers are going waaay out of their waaay to promote, using all kinds of gimmicks which are just making the movie fail more than it should have...

Releasing the video songs, and then releasing the trailer shortly before the release date of the movie is a bad idea. Pata nahi why they are taking so much risk.


Audience is clever.

We watch a video for 1 minute and draw all sorts of conclusions - "the movie is about this.. about that.. and then it will end like this, it will end like that" ... The human psyche is such.

And, what do you expect - the feats the mind achieves in drawing links and joining images from different videos(video songs/1 or 2 unreleased audio songs/multiple teasers/trailers) ?! 😆 ..and the direction is not sooo good in trailers or in general in the movie either(not MUCH content if we go by experience), we can easily take a guess of more than 60-70% of the story because of the different videos that are released on Youtube... why would we go to the theatre lol? When we know what the story is about? Just to find the laaast missing piece of our solved puzzle? 😆 ..and most people will thus make choice, whether to watch it in cinema or on TV - on world premier... or online lol.


Bad strategy IMO. Surprising, actually how they are following this strategy.
