i dont think it was a universally appreciated movie or performance so i dont see aishwarya being nominated for any awards for sarabjit next year... whereas anushka may get nominated for sultan

Was Sultan a universally acclaimed movie then? No it was not! It received its share of bad reviews as well, and coming to Anushka I dont think she got "critical acclaim". She was praised in a few reviews, and wasn't in a few. Some reviews didn't even mention her. So how can you pass that off as critical acclaim whereas Sarbjit as not?

And regarding getting nominated for awards.. I have no faith in our awards system. Some brilliant performances were ignored and mediocre performances were nominated, so the awards in India mean nothing these days.

yeh awards in india are a joke but still...lets be realistic n honest about sarabjit... it didn't do as well as ppl hoped...if u feel anushka wasnt appreciated in sultan then u can continue to believe that, thats ur choice... anushka herself has said that after band baaja barat..sultan is the next film she has got so much love for... ps. and us said there r some sultan reviews in which anushka wasnt mentioned..show me? 😆

Probably what she felt was true. I never disputed that. I was just countering your argument of her receiving critical acclaim when she wasn't universally acclaimed either. It isn't my "choice". It's an objective assessment after my reading the reviews.

Sarbjit didn't do as well as people hoped? Well.. it was never meant to be a blockbuster.. it isn't a happy film. It has a tragic ending. People already know the story, so some may have skipped because they didn't want to watch the suffering all over again. When you say let's be realistic and ask me, yes Sarbjit could have been an even better film, but would it really have helped? I don't think so. It would still have done the same kind of business that it did. And for a film where the lead is a 42+ heroine, it is still an achievement that it did like 40 crore.

Anushka was excellent in Sultan, in some of the scenes she was flawless like that confrontation scene in Dhaba where she slaps Sultan.

Aish, the less said the better.
