Comedies are very hard to do. Great ones, even harder. Hollywood too suffers from this problem nowadays. Horror is the same. Almost everyone follows the general cliches (in BW though, we don't even get the cliches.)

Hirani is the only one who can make a decent comedy, though his movies have drama infused in them heavily as well, but the point stands I guess.

How I wish there were more people like Edgar Wright. If you want comedy done right, see his work. He gets comic elements out of even the most mundane of situations through the use of visuals, sound, camera framing etc.

But too few. I love that stuff. Perfect escapism according to me. 😆 It feels so good to see how one or a couple of guys take it upon themselves to being about a change. 😳

Dramas outside films? But in places like Delhi and all that culture is still there, right? Naatak, nautanki, nukkad nataks etc..

More meaningful children movies(TZP an exception)
Family dramas
Reincarnation movies😆(OSO exception)
1 day event movies(Itefaq,36 ghante)

What ranbirrocks and everyone said - clean comedies, real life drama that common folks can relate to. Also, strong female roles (no, not the pseudo feminist roles where the females either dress up like men or don't dress well or yell to assert their position) that are essential to the sub-continent female strength - like Kashav or Khirad (minus the excessive tears)

Everyone pretty much said what is missing!

One genra that has been overdone is biopics. I absolutely detest biopics these days coz they can't make a decent one.
Another overdone genre is the simpleton guy creating a social revolution which Bhai is an expert in playing. Got enough of those. Can't stand them anymore.
