My biggest enemy is in the mirror: Sidharth Malhotra on competition

It has been four years since he made his Bollywood debut with Student Of The Year (2012). And so far, Sidharth Malhotra has had a successful run in the Hindi film industry. Maybe that is the reason why the actor readily says that he is "very happy" with the way his career panned out.

Mirror, mirror

"I am blessed and lucky to be among the few actors who are working with and getting interesting offers from good production houses. So, definitely, I have no complaints. The only struggle I have is with myself," says Sidharth, adding that his "biggest enemy is in the mirror". "When I look at myself, I think, I need to be better at this and that, and work on this aspect or try that.' So, the only competition I feel is when I see myself in the mirror," he adds.

Looks test

Sidharth was last seen in Kapoor & Sons, in which he co-starred alongside Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Ever since then, rumours about the competition between two good-looking' actors have been doing the rounds.

"I think there are so many other decent looking guys. So, I don't agree (that me and Fawad are competing over our looks). But Fawad is extremely good looking, and a charming and nice guy. I really enjoyed filming with him. I am happy that he is doing good work and signing films, and I am sure he is going to do justice to those stories and scripts," says Sidharth.

The Ek Villain (2014) star is also unaware of "where the stories (of producer Karan Johar favouring Fawad over him) are coming from". He says, "We both have never been pitched the same script (for the same role). If that's what people are trying to insinuate, that has never happened. Actually, I am extremely excited that Fawad is working more in Mumbai, and that I get to see more of him in the city," he says.

Live performances give you a high'

Since the past few weeks, Sidharth has been touring the US with a few other Bollywood actors. Talking about his experience there, he says, "The last time, I was in Florida for IIFA, and my performance received an amazing response even then. It (performing live) gives you a high. You get to interact and get positive feedback from people. You strike an immediate connect with them. There are eight people on this tour. Most of us know each other; we have also worked together. I, for one, have worked with everyone barring Adi (Aditya Roy Kapur). We have not done a film together."
