- Star power. That's how we the BW ppl decide after movies fate.. it's after baby is born and grew up. Th eproducers sign the stars long before that... that's when they see their star status and suitability with their project.. so signing amount and BO has months and years difference in them. That's why it's a gamble. Did any star asked for extra remuneration coz the film did more than 5 times business than it was expected too? Then.. ?
- BW has flop ratio of 80% and higher for the time I can remember.. tell me one industry that can survive and thrive such a dismal failure ratio? Coz.. the real investors have so many ways to recover their money other than BO. That's why big stars are safer bets. For Mohenjo Daro, the producers recovered their 60 Crs by selling the rights. why? Coz big names are attached to it. They need 50 Crs on BO to break even.. You cant talk about such numbers of small stars..
- BO is not irrelevvant.. its in fact the most relevant factor in star power and accordingly remuneration fees.. but its leds BO process by some 1 year margin.. and unknown factors at the release. If stars star giving flops, everything goes down for them, even the commercial rates..
So, when Ranbir or HR was given that fee at the time of signing.. it seemed appropriate to the investors to take that gamble, if it didnt pay off, there will be review on their behalf. The current market value.. when signing them for next.
However, its not 9-5 day job on contract for six months.. its a very complex contract.. so to how much an actor/superstar afford straight 100 days or so.. and work on the looks for entire duration etc.. also come onto play.
One actor may blv in doing 4 films with same or little change to his appearances against one actor totally devoting his time for an year to a film... is also in consideration.. esp.. those stars can earn crores doing just commercials coz of their face values..
Again, if those stars and their appeal on BO go up or down, the market will keep them honest to that.
The simple fact that most superstars Khans- Roshan, Devgan, Kapoor etc all have their production houses where remuneration is not considered but the big share of producers is given.. BO is bonus..
Even in that formula, only some stars have succeeded. Do we even know if it's the star's home production, do they include star's fees in the budget (esp when its a superstar that can increase budget by 50 Crs or more).. hahahaa.. No, U dont know.
BW money ppl are not stpd or else given the failure ratio of BW for decades, it would have been shut down for good so long ago. 😆
I think the best way to go about it is.. fixed amount to the star (say half of his fees) and certain perstanges of profit afterwards. That should cover the all parties involved. Big stars.. big money involved. So the star gets his 25 crs upfront and rest as the film performs... Kool.
Just wondering.. they say Rustom is only 50 Crs budget, then how much Akshay charged for it?
We are naive to understand why some1 gets paid so much in BW.. coz we only see the end result on Fridays of a month or year.. Industry knows well in advance, who is worth what. Coz the theatres can be closed down, but BW is always keep going.
As for a practical answer.. Ranbir's next home production, he will be working for free, and so will HR.. NOW, does that mean the budget goes down and so it will favour a better BO verdict? Nope.. It wont. 😆 Nobody wnats to pay more taxes than they have to. And calling your product cheap is not superstar's characteristic. That's why we only have 4 superstars.
Konfused. Making it simple. Ppl invest in Gold.. it's international prices can fluctuate, but in the end, nobody gets their hands burnt in investing in gold, unless some compulsive gambler who will sell it for silver price to put it on black jack.. or buying siver at gold price coz it's fav. color..
Star power is when they sign the movie, end result is after the movie releases. In between how much producers invested and gained.. is guessing game.
