Depends on who you hit!!

My friends cousin in India ran over a 2 year old beggar kid who came running into the road and he did not have time to stop. 3 Lakhs to the parents, 5 Lakhs to the Cops. The case was never registered.

Ironically like Salman Khans case he had to flee the scene too because all the beggars started picking up Bricks and stones and were enclosing the car.

But for the most part, if you have contacts, you can get away with almost anything in a country like India.

This labour brick mason we knew his son was driving a lorry and ran over a biker. People beat him up on the street and he was jailed for 3 years. In the jail he had fight with another prisoner and was given some more months. The Labour guy was still supporting his sons family during his absence at his old age

The legal consequences in India if a person accidentally kills someone while driving even though he wasn't drunk- It would come under culpable homicide and not murder. The basic difference between the two is that the latter is wherein you have the motivation and intention to kill someone and thereby plan it out. However in the former you no doubt kill someone but you did not intend to do so. IPC prescribes higher punishment for murder than culpable homicide. Whether the person was drunk or not at the time or not will be considered by the court to determine if it was a result of a negligent act or not. If the driver was not drunk, it would be a pure accident.

If you're trying to Justify Salman's saga then you're knocking at the wrong place.

I Dont care about Punshiment I'il just accept whatever.
But I'il just become a Countryman and lend the victim to the hospital.
Do that necessary needs that call victim's familiy. Would apologise rightaway that your lovable have been accidentally hit by me.
