Ranbir was really good in Rajneeti. He had a lot of shades to his character - quiet, brooding, serious son of a patriarch who becomes cunning and vengeful after his father is shot and killed.
Having watched the movie recently, some of my favourite scenes of his were when the corrupt policeman assaults Ranbir outside his father's hospital room, and the scene where Manoj Bajpai realises that Ranbir is not leaving and that Ranbir and Arjun Rampal tricked him. I also liked the scene in which Ranbir's gf realises that Ranbir got the sidekick of Ajay Devgan killed... and the ones in the office where Ranbir effectively showed the dark sides of the character. It was a meaty role and Ranbir played it extremely well. He also shone in a star-heavy cast and showed that he is a versatile actor, not having done such a serious and dark role before.

Ranveer in DDD was average I'd say. Not outstanding but not bad either. I think the focus was more on Anil/Shefali and the family dynamic, and even Priyanka shone in what was otherwise a vaguely written character. He did his bit effectively but there weren't many shades beyond I-want-to-be-a-pilot-and-not-a-businessman and the impulsive young 20-something pursuing Anushka etc... not like Rajneeti at least. DDD was a much lighter film in that aspect.

No, Veer wasn't average etc I'm D3, lol, he brought life to the movie & was so good in the comic bits. It shows that he has comic actor potential & I hope he does a nice dark comedy (there were bits of it in D3) his character was so confused, lost yet SO endearing & appealing & I don't think many actors can do that!! So he was definitely very good in D3 BUT,

Ranbir was something else in Raajneeti. It was a subtle, layered role that he shone in!!! He made all those dark grey shades look effortless, from the young, loving son who wishes to not delve into the black world of politics, to his eventual pull into it where he displayed ruthlessness, political cunning & a very dark sort of charm? He was *excellent*.

One scene that sticks out is the scene in his father's (? , it's been 6 years since I saw that movie but I think it was his Dad's study) and he's rotating that pen in his hand, and clearly plotting his moves & flash-backing to his father's death, mother's plight, brother's murder & the very small micro-expressions.. He's one of the best actors we have. I knew he was excellent when I saw Saawariya itself where he was presented a lot like Raaj Kapoor to evoke that nostalgia in the older audiences & also like how I imagine his grandfather would've portrayed him had he launched him, but Raajneeti & Barfii took that opinion & solidified it. I think RK in Raajneeti is maybe, even better than in Barfii..

Which is why I feel bad when I see Roy (his worst yet) not even Tamaasha was as bad as Roy & BV (though he made the most of what little he had)

So ya, RK in Raajneeti for me.

though I dont understand the reason for comparing Rajneeti to DDD, ofcourse multi-starrer isnt a strong reason. Its just a veiled way of showing how RK is better then RS.

But my obvious choice is RS, cause he is a better actor i feel. Though Ranbir isnt bad by any ways. RS is just better and more hard-working

Just yesterday i was watching their interviews and Deepika said during BM promotions, how hard-working RS is, the pains he would take for even a small thing as an interview...the way he prepares himself.

As oppose to him, RK in an interview said, how he is detached to his movies, he takes it as his daily routine to go to shoots, shoot and go back home. This shows how he isnt taking it seriously, maybe that is why his movies arent doing good at BO. Cause obviously he isnt putting much thoughts to selecting movies, just like he isnt putting much thoughts to acting those characters.

I know the post should be a comparison of the actors in a multistarrer but both characters they played are totally different from each other and movie itself so how can you compare their acting skills based on that. Comparison of characters with the same shade would be appropriate.
So for me both are well played characters. Ranveer and Ranbir are totally different as people and as actors. And who will be the best of the two well i guess time will tell while Ranveer rises from movie to movie Ranbir stucked as an actor after Barfi.

As much as i don't like Ranbir but can't stop myself from saying that he was great in Rajneeti , on the other hand Ranveer was nothing worth remembering and anyone could have done the role.

I actually meant 'average' when comparing it to Ranbir's performance in Rajneeti 😊 sorry, that part wasn't too clear. I did enjoy Ranveer's comic scenes and even the scenes with Noori and even the scene where Anil and Shefali tell him to become interested in Noori so that they can save the business. His bits with Anushka were fun too, especially cycling around Istanbul and their song was nice as well. His dark comedy part - I'm guessing are you talking about his comedy bits in the serious scene where PC is telling Rahul Bose and Zarina Wahab about wanting a divorce - was good too. I just didn't think he was anything extraordinary like Ranbir was in Rajneeti. I loved your analysis on Ranbir's character too, it really was a chilling role that added to his repertoire. 👍🏼

without getting biased I'll say ranbir in rajneeti. The character he played was so layered yet realistic.rs also was really good in ddd,but my fav of him is lootera, maybe cause dark layered characters attract me more than goofy fun ones.Rk was so sharp and nuanced in rajneeti, he made me actually feel for his character as he fell lower and lower in his own eyes, the only guy in the family who stayed away from politics to becoming the gamechanger and even enjoying it much to his own disgust. He was perfect for the role, like rs has a natural charisma to play lil raw charachters rk suits best in such calm dark spine chilling characters. And he looked very hot in specs. My fav scene is when he bullies babulal and blackmails him in the guise of being a wellwisher and protector, and then kills him with the phonecall. He shakes a lil bit as he just became a murderer and nana's charachter just pats him.

I still think RS is a better actor than RK. I like both of their films. But to me Veer in D3 is better than Bir in YJHD, or Veer in his best (BM) is still better than RK's best (Barfi). I honestly don't think RK's best is Rajneeti. Although, the grey shades to his character were well-depicted.
Maybe it's a bias or a preference or a connection. But I connect much easier to RS's portrayals than RK's. Like, I still to date enjoy Kabir's journey more than Sid's or Bunny's. I sometimes wish RS could have done WUS since it's one of favorite films of all time and I would love to see RS's approach to Sid.

I would choose Ranbir as he stood his ground among the acting starlets like Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai and Ajay Devgan these guys excel in playing dark twisted characters.
Rajneeti is my favourite Ranbir K movie.
