But yeah, Sallu's "target audience" will love the movie as the ambitious, feminist heroine was shown her true aukaat, the feisty Aarfa was shown her real place... in the kitchen, she was "conquered" by the "macho stalker uncle", she sacrificed her ambitions for Olympics Gold even after spending whole life training and preparing for it, she supported her stalker/ husband instead, to win golds just after 6 months of training! 😲
Yes, sure, DP and Kangana would have loved to do this glorified flowerpot role. 😆

Funny when you say Stalker : Dil Se, Chalte Chalte, Deewana, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, My name is Khan.

Not even going to the ones like Darr, Bazigar, Anjaam etc where he played the right character that's negative 😆

So by this logic - SRK's target audience in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna was those who love Extra Marital Affairs 😛

RIP Logic by God !😆

Vaishvi thanks dear 😆 I mean sometimes logics go haywire in IF that's fine. But this is of some another level where it feels like 'putting some fingers inside my brain and swirling it around' (borrowed from Friends series 😆)

Stalker Uncle was not my term. Read this:

http://www.masala.com/movie-review-sultan-220565.html

Its all abt the misogyny in the film which seems to be acceptable to Indian audience.

SRK was stalking actresses close to his age, so it didnt look that weird or creepy.
Negative character of SrK is in movies, but Salman is negative in real life.
KANK is disliked by most SRK fans including me...we are not the type to hype and praise even the bad movies of SRK. 😆

Salman does Really horrible movies most of the time but even those are praised to the skies.

Anyway, KANK was KJo's vision for which hes giving explanations to this day as desis are such hypocrites they want to deny EMA happens everywhere nowadays.
Generally SRK movies give more prominence to heroines, he doesnt hog the show like Salman does.

There was no misogyny in Sultan, Aarfa always had the upper hand over Sultan. Just because she choose family over career does not mean movie should be termed misogynist. Me personally would have preferred Aarfa and Sultan to use condoms, still aab ho gaya toh ho gaya.
Husband and Wife winning gold would have been so awesome.

Still if Mary Kom in real life left her career for her marriage, why is Aarfa the character is slammed for this one? And Mary Kom is the one of the biggest example of woman power, much bigger than "My choice" females who think ridiculing men, matching them for the vices and overalll acting like a dick makes them Murat of female empowerment .
So what did the article writer wanted Aarfa to do? Drop the child? So if she leaving her career for her husband is misogyny, than slamming her for choosing martial life is what?

Also pallavi-ji, I am not directing this post to you but to that reviewer who took maternal wisdom as sone form of misogyny. As you have probably not seen the movie and you will never see it, not questioning your boycott, in a way it makes you a better person than people like me as you boycott a person who have ridicule the judicial system, while people like me are indirectly funding him just for our personal pleasure. Anyways that is another topic.

Also this thread is ridiculous, Deepika and Kananga don't need Salman. Especially Kanagana who have given super hits and blockbusters on her own with no superstar on her side. Seriously don't make me laugh by saying people went to see R.Maddy in TWMR.
Credibility of the likes of Parineeti would have definitely gone up by doing Sultan. But who cares Anushka was a perfect choice. She was brilliant .

the movie is not trying to show a woman her "aukkat" but it's showing the harsh bittersweet reality of life !
sometimes incidents happens which take us away from our dreams but those things aren't seen as sacrifice, its just case of priorities changing ! SPOILERSSS ====
they tried to portray Sultan as a stereotypical man who believed he would have son and just thought he could do anything in the world ! he didn't even realise but he started treating Aarfa like a doormat wife ! which is when things changed by the end of the movie we see Arrfa get back into the ring and Sultan supporting her !
the first line of the movie itself was " if we kill our daughters how will be get our son brides"

Lol Sultan's BO is due to Salman and the content is average, the critics have such low expectations that they're acting like they haven't seen better. I don't any other actress is regretting turning it down, it's not like a Salman film would do much for them at this point when they're already so successful.😛 PK was a huge hit and critically acclaimed but it didn't seem to do much for Anushka.

you guys really need to stop putting Anushka down. she is the underdog and is still in the industry without creating pr drama every week ! 😆
yes all the critics are crazy and had low expectations, argument totally makes sense !

Anushka actually has good set of films with big stars playing strong character or herself playing pivotal roles in own production house films.

Deepika has no film in Bollywood and expecting the same treatment when she makes a comeback. Where in industry like Bollywood heroines are replaced every week. As for her rejecting Sultan, oh well too bad. Gives her PR to brag more about not doing a film with Salman to stay in limelight

As for Kangana. It's a hit and miss. After Queen she delivered Revolver Rani crap, after Tanu she had an outdated shit IloveNY and flop Katti Batti 😆 talking of her script sense.

Whether Piku, Queen, TWMR or Bajirao Mastani. None of them worked for their star power. So there is no point of claiming that these girls benefit from any small or big films box office wise. All above films had great WOM to make them a success.

Doing a film with a superstar but being given credit for standing out in that film is a huge deal and I congratulate Anushka for that. She will certainly bag Best Actress nomination of ADHM sucks big time

Why is Deepika even considered a major BO pull? She maybe number 1 for continuous success but let's be honest her star power is no where close to what someone like Katrina had from 2007 to 2012. Continuous streak of films post APKGK to Dhoom 3 is incredible

Lol every year you say let's see where DP will be. She will be over blah blah blah but you're proved wrong
I though Anu was supposed to overtake DP last 2 years will all her 'awesome' movies lol

If DP and Kangy and of course PC have survived without greatest blockbuster with Sallu till date then they will survive going forward too.

Anu's movies and their business on paper sound lovely but if you dig further then you would know why despite being a good actress and working with the biggest directors and stars she can never achieve the stardom like the above. 😉

NO!

a piku or a TWMR is much better than a pk or a sultan for an actress

it is what you carry on YOUR shoulders which deepika and kangana have done but any one can give hits in a khan movie..any one else in pk or sultan and movie have fared the same..

asin had ghajni and ready..where is she today?

LOL
the girl has her own production house ! NH10 was appreciated both by the audience and critics ! and there are 2 more movies coming where that came from 😉
Asin dug her own hole, she could have been easily successful with after Ghajni but then she opted for a flowerpot role iin ready !
Piku had a strong scirpt and two great actors and Deepika decided do it at the peak of her career !
Anushka did BBB when she was only 2 films old, and that to with a completely new actor who had that time was considered to have 0 appeal and it was highly appreciated ! i am sure if a sequel for BBB came out today it would but be a hit but of course the credit will be shared by Ranveer ! unlike for Piku where apparently "DP carried the whole film on her shoulders"
wonder what happened to Tamasha then when she was paired with her ex/ great director/ musician ...

I haven't seen the film so will not comment if Anushka suits the role or not. Or if the other actresses lost out on anything. But I think She definitely deserves some credit for pulling off aarfa. She's been getting good reviews in a Salman Khan film which is no mean feat. So good going Anushka.
