I could never drive there..no rules, people just do whatever they want..and if they get caught, 'tu janta nahi main kisse janta hoon" 😆

Chennai to a place called Trichy. Cousin drove inside the city of course. It was some years ago but less than 5. I drove for almost 2 hours straight in an Indian SUV. We made the trip in less than 6 hours IIRC. This same trip would take us an entire night by train or car when we visited as kids. But the NHs are really nice now.

Drove a little on the Chennai - Bangalore Highway too. I also drive for short errands like grocery store or getting milk which people generally walk so I can get practice.😳 Drive pretty much inside a colony or a small road with little traffic in the early morning. I always volunteer to drive and often people let me 😆

Also the southies usually hate to flaunt their wealth. Mostly the ppl from Mumbai /Delhi love to flaunt.😆 DP did live in the heart of the city(one of the best locality) just a stone throw from her school in an apt before they bought a home. So yeah if relatives came it would mean to vacate for aunty/uncles n kids in hall.

@bold- this I would agree having observed people from all states of India.

We have a friend couple. Husband Tamil, Wife Gujju. They are very well to do. Hubby is so simple and grounded, wifey show off. 😆😆 I hate showing of wealth. Creates lot of problem. I want to become like Southies. To some extent I am. My husband sometime doubts that he doesn't know how much money I have saved. 😆😆

@Maul - I can so identify with Cousin time. Yup we did the same. Sleep on the floor if necessary but in same room.

Ha. Bahot taam jaam hai. I am Gujju and I agree to it.

Marriage is such a show off. Tijori-mein-jitna-hai--bichha-ke-dikhao-sabko day.

I find Marathis the simplest!

The golden quadrilateral are highways which are good to drive on. One of the good things which came out of Vajpayee's stint as PM.

The only roads in B'lore where you can drive on 5th gear is NICE Toll roads or else you are stuck between 1st or 2nd gear elsewhere.

~

I know a person who owns Porshe , Lamborghini and fleet of expensives cars and a small plane he pilots but he drives/parks it in his farmhouse out of B'lore which had kind of race track for his cars. My dad is into construction and was involved in BIAL , so he had access to airport before it opened so we went to see the airport/ air traffic control tower etc but this person wanted to drive his cars on the runway. My dad didnt allow it ofcourse.

This photo was circulating on the net about B'lore traffic recently.Luxury cars stuck behind Namma Bangaluru bus.😆

She seems relatively nice and grounded.
And looking at her moms pics she seems to be one of the stricter mom while the father is a softie 😃

Deepika gives me homely feel.
But she can still come and do chores at my place some of which I absolutely dislike.
