Shahid was not overshadowed by anyone in the movie. Alia is praised because she was brilliant, but that does not take away from Shahid was also excellent. He was the comic relief of the movie.

As for the topic, Ranbir was a rock star, while Shahid was a pop star. Performance wise Ranbir was better.

For the longest time RK as Jordan was the epitome of a near perfect Rockstar performance for me but Shahid just blew me away. I really never thought anyone could have portrayed Jordan as well as Ranbir, could not even imagine another actor in his place, but not anymore. Yet at the same time I cannot imagine RK pulling off the maniacal comical Tommy Singh for some reason. So yeah I will place SK above RK.
