You don't understand, does not mean others don't 😛 😆. Sorry !!

The point though is some songs strike a chord in an audience not intended to hear it. Like Gangnam style. I can't understand a word, but it was so danceable and made me happy. It created a sensation. So too Jai Ho. There were flash mobs dancing to it all the time in the US at some point. Some bands made remixes. One I remember is the Pussy Cat dolls. This is one flash mob.

I don't think anyone is dancing still to this except in the privacy of their home or in a club, but I personally know of many who became interested in ARR music after this.

Illayaraja is one such musician. He has consistently composed music since 1970s. And the beauty of it is he is still working in the Tamil industry which ARR belongs to. But even ARR could not dethrone him, but just added his voice. That is the measure of true talent. Even if someone as talented as ARR comes along, you stay and Illayaraja sir surely does and did. He not only composes in Tamil but other languages too even English. So too SPB. Singers come and go, but SPB stays, singing in multiple languages even now. Some people are evergreen and that is because of their talent.

ARR isnt as good as he was before, his recent albums have mostly been disappointing!
His best was Roja, Dil Se, Saathiya, he was great all the way till Delhi-6, since Raavan, dont find his music that appealing or memorable.
Anu Malik just gave us DLKH which was a great album with beautiful songs reminiscent of the melodious 90s, so he deserves more chances now, he still has it.

I dont know why people think Bollywood audiences only ike Hinglish songs and dont prefer proper Hindi music.
Look at the two winning songs at the award shows this year - Deewani Mastani from Bajirao and Moh Moh Ke Daage From Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

There have been many proper hindi songs in the recent past: Sawar Loon, Pareshan- Ishaqzaade, Manwa Lage- HNY, Nagada sang Dhol Baje. Albums like Aashiqui-2, Ek Villain - have been in pure hindi and they have been heavily appreciated and loved!

I think the reason 90/s directors dont get work - is because that was the 90's. And this is the 2010's. Alot has changed, and the sound has defiantly changed! Its not a matter of talent, everybody has their own time and era thats all it its!

I agree with you TM. Personally I miss the amazing songs of the 90s. There are definitely lots of amazing singers and music directors today. I just wish we could get a taste of the 90s-type music once in a while.

anand milind, jatin lalit, nadeem shravan all were A listed MDs in the 90s but slowly disappeared.anu malik though not a personal favorite has composed some amazing songs.I think it depends on the movies too..now also you will have one melodious song in a movie album if not more.

Imagine Anand-Milind coming up with another Channe Ke Khet Mein?
Or What Is Mobile Number type cheesy 90s songs.
No.

And by the way I don't think Rahman EVER reinvented himself, he's had a distinct sound his whole career. He's always managed to sounds fresh and current without reinventing himself. His music is spiritual. And that never goes out of fashion.

more than the audience it was the newer music directors who wanted to look cool and changed the tunes ,the audience just caught on to it
at the time newer ,younger directors might have thought they would sound cool,if theywould compose the same type of tune as the older ones clearly they would have gone with them.
now if they compose the 90s tune people are going to reject it,prdp st worked because it has salman bhai😛
ps : these days amaal malik seems to be the new flavor
