Those wannabe westernised songs are what audiences want.
Those music directors of that era weren't willing to change with the time. And their music send remained old where as new music directors took over.

Today's time we have talented music directors like Pritam, Amit Trivedi, Vishal Shekhar, AR Rahman, Ram Sampat, Amaal Malik, Meet Bro's, Himesh Reshamiya and Ajay Atul. We don't need them old bunch. Likes of Himesh, AR Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy & Anu Malik lasted as they could compose music for today's generation

i like anu malik, rehman and himesh (old music), shankar ehsan loy and ram sampath from above mention names but i miss nadeem shravan, jatin lalit, nikhil vinay, anand miland no matter if westrezie song is in demand because of youth but ultimatly they dont have long lasting impact non of today song will be remembere d afer 10 20 years from now they will be treated as junk , they dont have quality which tradtional music used to have they are still rememberd as evergreen classics.. No matter how hard we try to be yo man westernized its not our culture we can never become a gora in our lives so its use less to copy them in my views we had our own music which now faded out because of being westrnize culture...we hve become adopter i would prefer liseting enrqiue over bollywood westrtenzed songs

Because they produce good music with great tune, melody and lyrics which today's generation don't like.

Today's generation want HINGLISH lyrics which they can't listen properly during the song, also tune shouldn't be there like Rockstar, Rock On songs. They want only Noise.

Even great singers don't get many songs to sing as Crying or Phati Hui awaaz like Farhan Akhtar has become compulsory.

You seem to be stuck in 90s. 😆
There are here because audience wants them, saying that they produce soulless is wrong.

The same reason why music composers of the 70s + 80s didn't continue into the 90s + 00s...!
There has been and will always be retro throwback periods as seen by Bappi_da.

One answer is they are not good enough ? Yeah, I am going there. A R Rehman started in the 90s, now he is a benchmark for good music. He won a Grammy and Oscar. Few American musicians have that not to say BAFTA and Golden Globes. It is because he constantly reinvents himself, is fresh and not stale. Even if audience taste changes there is always place for talent.

What she meant is, MD needs to reinvent themselves to be relevant. The directors you mentioned are stuck on thier outdated music which had its run and got replaced. Thus current techno-bollywood music will also have its run and something will replace it. Those who can adapt and reinvent themselves will survive.
