I can't give a straight answer without a little OT, disclaimer and history 😳. Apologies.
*disclaimer* I have to put this because I come from a very biased place when it comes to Mani Sir and Abhishek The time Raavan was made in Hindi was a bad time in Mani Sir's life. He had a heart attack some time ago, his brother who produced most of his films committed suicide because of financial pressures. It is also a bad coincidence that the last 3 or 4 films he made before he took a break was these multi starrers with different casts in multiple languages like Yuva in Hindi, Ayutha Ezhuthu Tamil version and Raavan in Hindi and Raavanan in Tamil. Guru with Abhi and Ash was somewhere here too.
Abhishek is a mediocre actor at best. Even in Yuva one of his best performances, you just have to see a similar movie in Tamil to see how mediocre even his best is. In terms of Ravan, I would say it is certainly not Mani Sir's best, but you see Vikram in Tamil and it is a much better film. It was one of the top money makers in Tamil that year IIRC. Heck, Ash was better playing against Vikram than Abhi though to be fair husband wife teams don't translate well on screen. But Mani Sir took a break after Raavan IIRC and since Yuva, Guru and Raavan were the three films preceding his break I am very biased that he should not have worked with Abhi.
