😆We're discussing that tmc has gotten majority votes while we atleas expected a lil compettition, and that rural people are not caring about the big polictical corruptions of tmc as they get cycles books, konnashree scheme, fgood drainage etc. They do'nt really care about sarda narada stings etc and such people ar emajority so tmc always gets their votes.iT WO'NT BE EASY TO UPLIFT THEM WITHN THESE FEW YEARS.

May be you stay in WB and know more but as an outsider TMC has one of the most ruthless party workers who have killed so many innocent people in the open. I don't think CPIM people did that.
If Jyoti Basu was so bad then why did he lead the state for such a long period?? I thought people were very happy under his leadership and when he decided to quit people were very sad.

Jyoti Basu was a pakka politician
He was extremely ruthless
He started the scientific rigging in India
Votes were looted..literally...
Remember in Jyoti Basu's days print and television media were not strong enough to cover what CPIM did...There were much violence in rural areas...Do read about the Bantala incident regards to an Unicef women and Jyoti Basus comment on that...
He is the one who opposed computer..he is the one who stopped English in primary section
He literally demolished two-three generations and forced them to shift to other states
Jyoti base surely would have defeated that year but CPIM think tanks brought in Buddhadeb at that time who had an squanky clean image as politician..Even Mamata was so sure of winning..But Buddha won..He was a different human being with vision
He mobilized the Bengal industrialization, started IT sector jobs...given much needed land to corporates. But he was much in urban development and he was a typical bengali bhodrolok. So couldn't tackle a seasoned politician like Mamata..Also there's no denying of mamata's extraordinary fight..Its not an easy job to defeat left in Bengal...she did that..buddadeb said sorry for Singur Nandigram incident but people thought him of a weak person. With intellectuals and media support Mamata came to power and rest is history..

None misses Jyoti Basu except Mamata herself may be..He has started the goon politics in west bengal from which its still suffereing..

For intellectuals Jyoti Basu is very good leader. saying this, The history books from authors like Vipin Chandra dont criticize him for all this. For me as an outsiders, WB was a intellect center, it was the most imp state at the time of independence but it was Bengali people who voted Jayoti Basu who in turn destroyed it. Both Bihar and WB were way ahead than Haryana at that time, Sure Haryana is a small state and Green Revolution happened but it is also fully electrified and fully road-connected. Bihar and Bengal had all resources- Raw material (land, water, mines) and Human resources but their politicians destroyed them.
Jyoti Basu is very much responsible for what WB is now.

I would say West Bengal still is a intellect centre. If you go to private education till class 12 its still the best of the lot in India. But both CPM and TMC govt is ruining the education sector afterwards..Sad but truth
Also as a border state West Bengal has to deal with the immigrant problem too..
