Im not exactly Indian but my grass roots are Indian and when I was a kid I went to Pakistan once and it was a memorable visit. I implore you guys not to believe everything that the media says and see it for yourself if you ever get the opportunity. People were very kind, and hospitable to us. They were no different than any others. I went to Karachi in the early 90's and it was very beautiful. Women were very fashionable, they had better cars than India at those time. They had those ATM machines, and canned foods, and really neat super markets. At that time it was at par to India (Im not trying to put anyone down) but things were really good back then long before all this instability and terorrism and sectarian violence kind of ruined things.

But still if you can, do visit once. It is a very beautiful place, with breath taking scenery, finger licking cuisine and lots of beautiful people.

very nice comment. i am not a pakistani but have visited lahore and it was just beautiful. people were very nice and hospitable. food was super yummy. i loved shopping there.
hope things return to normalcy over there
i am glad there are sane people like kabir and some of us here in IF who know that 10 people do not represent a whole country. the media needs news to sensationalize things. they know that only bad news sells. i bet you they didn't cover his entire trip and just covered the airport incidence.

Too bad I don't think I will be able to go again to Pakistan. For a single young male travelling to Pakistan can cause a lot of headaches to anyone visiting India again. You can blame this on the politics of both nations which only penalizes commoners.

I know. Im a huge nature bluff. Ive been to camping in many places. Im not too big on modern buildings but more the historical and naturistic locales. It is not too expensive either you can rent a truck which means a jeep over there and go. These places are also apparently safer than Swat and other NWFP places or Baluch area.

Yes these places are safer than Peshawar and kpk
Usually we hire Chevrolet truck or pajero. But its so sad that such beautiful areas are ruined because now ppl scared to travel and ppl gobe so poor there now due to lack of tourists.
