Its because of movies like Houseful that films like Airlift can be made. Films like Houseful bring a lot of money into the industry and plus theres a huge audience for it.

When Akshay was asked why he is doing masala nonsensical comedies, he was like serious movies have limited audience, by doing these masala main stream movies, he can hook with the main stream audience and bring them into the serious cinema, thus bringing those serious movies unto the attention of wider audience.

It's all right. He is making up to this in August with Rustom. and Houseful, however shi**y it is, has its own set of audience.

LOL Akshay's not doing Houseful 3 as a favour, he loves this shit!! 😆 As mentioned already, Akshay himself has stated that he likes to do a mix of different genres otherwise it gets monotonous for him:) The comedy genre is what took his stardom to a whole new level and people love seeing him in comic roles. He gets to swim in all that cash doing stuff he has a ball of a time doing, why would he refuse:)

I loved Airlift as well, he really raised the bar with it. Thus I would've personally been so much happier if he did a comedy film with Priyadarshan as director rather than this silly Houseful franchise. But hey, it makes a shit load of money so the producers might as well milk it !
