Aishwarya the most successful as Miss World. No Miss World can beat her even the 2015 Miss World.
Nobody care Priyanka as Miss World. Nobody call her the most beautiful Miss World. She only known as actress, and may be as singer non singer. She can sing, just like me or anyone, but she not the great singer like Beyonc, Mariah Carey.

How did Ash pave path for PC? It is like saying that Kabir Bedi or Amrish Puri, who played some roles in Hollywood before Ash, paved the path for Ash.
Also, for those saying Ash brought notice to Indian beauty, please understand Ash isn't a typical Indian beauty. Her light skin tone, eyes, hair are not the marks of an exotic Indian beauty. So, Ash might have been considered the most beautiful woman in the world, and that might have brought some attention to her in the western world but that did not bring up attention to Indian beauty.
Whereas PC herself is dusky with the normal Indian features and hair. She has paved her path herself (with maybe some help from some powerful people) in Hollywood.

OMG.. I thought the question is More Successful as Miss World. 😕
I am sorry. If as actress, of course PC known better, but she not the best. She search for that popularity. Contrast with Aish, people search for her.
BTW...
PC search and request the opportunity
Aish has been given the opportunity

This is like the argument that Halle Berry is not the first African American woman to win the Best Actress award because she is only half- white. She is among the lightest people in the spectrum of African American color, bur she is African American. No less African American than Viola Davis or Angela Bassett who are darker skinned than her and fit a more stereotype idea of what an African American is supposed to look like and how Halle looks does not in any way shape or form take away the fact that she is the first African American woman to win Best Actress. President Obama is still the first African American President despite being only half black and also having lighter skin. Ethnicity is not based on looks, it is based on DNA. If you do a DNA analysis, Ash who belongs to the Bunt community will most likely have majority dravidian DNA. Her light eyes and skin may make her a rarity among her community, but her ethnicity is dravidian who settled in India centuries ago.

Few people in India or the world are as pretty as Ash or PC, but they are seen on TV and they are those who make the idea of normal women of Indian origin being beautiful and not just white and blond. They change the idea of beauty that Indian women are beautiful too. Few Latina women are as pretty, busty or sexy as Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara or JLO but seeing them makes the idea of a normal Latina woman pretty and sexy vs exotic and only blond and white the standard of beauty. For the idea of diverse beauty to be accepted it must first be seen in the media, in ads, especially beauty ads and fashion magazines and runways in the fashion capitals of the world like New York, London, Paris and Milan. That the idea of beauty is diverse, not just white and blond.

As for Kabir Bedi and Amrish Puri, why is so impossible to accept that they paved the way for Ash ? ? Because they are male ? Of course they did. For an Indian actor to be accepted in a HW film, someone had to pave the way. So there would be no Ash or Irfan or Tabu without Kabir Bedi or Amrish Puri. Their work may not be great but they are pioneers in the idea of Indians in HW. For someone to walk through a door, it must first be open. The door was opened by people like Kabir Bedi, Persis Kambatta, Amrish Puri to name a few. Their contributions must be acknowledged because without them there would be no Ash or PC.

Ash is nothing compare to priyanka today. Beauty is just temporary and ur work success actually speak louder. Even in BW she is known for her beauty which is overrated for me. Most of her movies boomed! She has no BO pull. Only certain roles of her are significant .

People are saying ash opened doors for PC! In away you are underestimating PC's hardwork. The girl really doing well on her own. At least, don't snatch that from her.

PC hands down.
Ash maybe more beautiful and will always be remembered as a beauty but that in itself is not an accomplishment, it was a freak of fate.

PC is doing really well yes, but when you compare she is not the first or a pioneer South Asians on TV. Some are Kal Penn on House, Parmindar Nagra on ER, Naveen Andrews on Lost, Sendhil Ramamurtny on Heroes, Archie Punjabi in the Good wife. Archie Punjabi is a multiple Emmy nominee for that role and won at least once IIRC way before PC was on TV. The first South Asian woman to star in a Primetime series is Mindy Kalling. It does not matter if people are of South Asian origin and US or British citizens or Indian citizens, everyone is dumped under the same "South Asian" category. Acknowledging PC's achievements does not mean taking away from others who in some way did pave the way for her.

^I don't think you understand that people aren't saying that PC is the ONLY person to do this or that she's the first person to do it. Yes, there are some South Asians on American TV and others who have appeared here and there with regards to movies, but she's the only mainstream, popular actor from Bollywood who has made it to a primetime show (in a leading role) and award shows. This is coming from someone who doesn't even like PC as a person, but her relentlessness, hardwork and presence in the right place/time is the reason why she's getting these opportunities there. Otherwise, if you look at the whole 'diversity' situation right now...it's apparent enough that no one 'paving ways' has been good enough in anyone being nominated/present, etc. Trying to underscore PC by mentioning names of other people who have little to do with her current achievements is petty to be honest.

And as for what you said about 'Indian beauty being mainstream' a few pages ago...😆 I don't even know what to say to you if you really think Indian beauty is mainstream in the west 😆

PC could do all the relentless hard work, ambition, but it was made easier for her because of those people who were named. She maybe the first main stream, popular actor from Bollywood to get a Primetime TV show, but certainly not the first in HW. That is Kabir Bedi, Amrish Puri, Shabana Azmi even Persis Kambatta was the first to present in the Oscars. I don't know if Kabir Bedi walked red carpets. All these people worked hard, all had ambition. Saying so does not take away from PC. She is not unique in that. She is certainly different from current BW, but there were many before her who paved the way to HW.

Yes, Indian beauty is mainstream in the west. Absolutely. The fact that you see PC and Mindy on TV who plays a character who just happens to be Indian vs a Indian character means Indian beauty is mainstream. Dolls of different color are available, make up is available in different skin tones and that too not just high end, but mainstream companies who are available in drugstores and Target or Walmart. Heck, there is a Gap ad with a Sikh guy in a turban. Gap is as American as basic american as you can get. Growing up as a little girl these things were not available. The fact that these are mainstream now is what makes Indian beauty a part of the American fabric and not exotic to me.
