For Ghayal Once Returns, it was pretty much needed that it takes a respectable start at the least so that it can grow over the weekend. In that aspect, the opening day of 7.2 crore had turned out to be a decent start. Since the response towards the film is mixed, a big jump in collections was ruled out. However, there was escalation seen in certain centers, and as a result, the weekend number now reads as 23 crore*.

The collections are the second best of the year so far after Airlift. This is how some of the major films (with an opening weekend of over 20 crore) have fared in 2016:

Airlift - 44.3 crore

Ghayal Once Again - 23 crore*

Wazir - 21.01 crore

Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 - 20.15 crore

However, the fact also remains that Ghayal Once Again is also the most expensive of it all, and hence at least 30 crore over the weekend would have brought the film into a much more comfortable situation.

Still, the film is better than what some of the last few Sunny Deol starrers have accumulated in the opening weekend:

Ghayal Once Again [2016] - 23 crore*

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 [2013] - 21.5 crore

Singh Saab The Great [2013] - 15.3 crore

Appreciation for Ghayal Once Again is better than his last two big entertainers, and one waits to see how audience gives it a dekko during the weekdays.

Meanwhile, Sanam Teri Kasam - after taking an ordinary opening day of 1.25 crore - hung on to similar numbers right through the weekend. The film has brought in around4.25 crore*. When compared to some of the recent musical romantic entertainers starring newcomers, these are still decent numbers. Still, the film needs to hold on Friday levels right through the weekdays so that it stands a chance to cross the 10 crore mark.
