All of them have very strong PRs. I dont think Varun is praised that much. Ranbir, Ranveer, Alia, Deepika, Anushka are praised the most among the younger lot.

industry walas usually praise movies that need boost.. most of the movies that they go gaga over are the ones that do not really appeal to the ppl... good movies speak for their own self.. they do not need a boost.. everything about airlift has been praised right from the start.. it does not need that kinda boost

The praise which celebs do when a film releases is mostly fake intended to prop up other stars at the behest of their PR. You will always notice certain stars get the most praise. Akki is a no nonsense guy and doesnt really care to get his friends to praise his films in a fake manner. No one anyways believes the celebs..the good WOM from the audience will be enough.

Yes most of us know mostly the tweets are fake
but I think there are still 20-30% people believes them
Don't you think a little support could have done wonders to a film like say Baby?

One more thing which I like about Akki is that he doesn't get into box office race and his goal is to do films that suit him, his age, his physique . He hardly will play a 25 year old in those mindless houseful films but when he does you know he convinces you unlike how Khans do now .

Akki has created a loyal audience who trust him for entertainment and they do go to watch his films and not only him which is why his films even flop if the story and overall product sucks .

Yes Akki's loyal audience loves him in Rowdy Rathore or Gabbar is back
But I think there's a certain pretense in multiplex audience who snubbed good films of Akki but care to watch 2nd class films of Khans. Please note I am talking about the audience who are not part of loyal group.

I think the stars PR have a you scratch my back and I scratch yours policy...they all praise each other and act all friendly. Akki doesnt care...does his work, follows certain rules and work ethics and sticks to his family. Some of his old friends like Salman support him though.
As for Baby...I saw the film and liked it but I see why its end result was average. The film had its flaws as far as Akki's usual fanbase is concerned. But its ok...Akki is trying to balance things since a few years. The audiences which generally watches films like Baby did not really have confidence in Akki. But I think people have started getting there finally. Critics and plex audiences have warmed up to him much more now in Airlift. It takes time to find a new audience and Akki is getting and balancing well.

Moreover he has always been sophisticated and classy offscreen and oozes confidence . I like him for the overall aura he has around him , and trust me 200 crs really don't matter when a fan base is created .

Right I absolutely agree with U, and what I like most about him is that he is very down to earth.

@ bold, correction - not all khans . Recent royal ignore given to Dilwale ( for fake praises ) contradicts this theory.

Most people from Bollywood praise an actor/director/producer they have something to gain from. Like I scratch your back, you scratch mine. And Akshay doesn't care much about industry people, he does a film, promotes it like its supposed to be promoted, and waits for the audience to decide. That's how it should be. Those fake praises are so annoying.

Pretty much this. Akki has made it where he is because of his films. Some films flop, some become a hit and the cycle goes on and on and on. And he's cool with it. He's not part of a real camp or group of people really, so yes kissing up to him doesn't really help anyone much

I think the reason why Baby didn't receive as much praise as some think it should have was because the movie ended so abruptly. At least for me, the story was building and building...and then it was the-end. It was really underwhelming
