CONTENT Excuse to avoid Box Office Expectation?

Fan & Raees ko aane do... After Dilwale's failure, every thread is filled with these lines. These 2 films are shown as content films but not a single word on how big these will be at Box Office?

Means now you can't expect upcoming Shah films to be big at Box Office, year wise grosser or all time big grosser, nothing, ppl can't even say for sure they will be clean hits or not, might end average, why so?

Salman with content gave Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Aamir gave 3 Idiots, PK, will these 2 films be in any level with these big grossers or we will see excuse as it was content so you can't expect big?

Hirani's movies have content but there are very populist as well...Munnabhai case in point...

BB is on similar lines...these films were as popullist as it gets...

They aren't songless, herione-less movies like Fan...

Can't comment on Raees asi don't know how commercial it is!!!

Logic- Dilwale collecting huge in overseas power of Srk.

Special Logic- BB collected 300 crs+ in India n $29 Million in overseas power of content+ Director+ Nawaz+ Harshali.
Salman was just there as its his movie nothing more.

Let's just stick to logic w/o aggrandizing our idols...

There is something called popular cinema & niche cinema... that's why 3I makes 200 cr+

& Talaash makes 90 cr ... both movies have content ...one has song & dance & humor other has a bleak setting..

I think, from what I have heard Fan is a dark film...even just after CE (in Agenda AAj Tak) SRK had said that his next movie won't make 100 crores but is a heartfelt one...So this ain't a cooked up excuse...

As a fan, I am not bothered by whose high is the highest I am more bothered about consistent good cinema that SRK is capable of delivering but is shying away from...

As for BO...SRK is an idiot ,he should have known that if a stinking piece of crap , dripped in negativity such as Ra One & DW can do 200 & 350 crores WW..His critically acclaimed movies too can atleast make that amount & additionally further his reputation as a great actor!!!

For an intelligent guy, he's been behaving pretty dumb lately!!!

Shah has made Chak De India a Blockbuster, it was also not having any heroine, no commercial chart-buster songs, that too with a director whose earlier films were not commercial success. Shah is bigger star, content with star is sure shot success, all films having this combo were 100% success & depending on star it was on big hit scale.

Both films came when Single Screen's were either only or were in majority. Swades came when Multiplex was new in India. Single Screen audience's graph is mixed from start, class plus mass both included in it. If you couldn't entertain that specific mass audience, you loose that repeat quotient of that film, which happened with them. When CDI Came, Multiplex was brand new concept, you can have both set of audience & if 1 set of audience couldn't connect with film, you have that niche art lovers who will push those films to success levels. Now you can have a Barfi kind of film doing 100 cr, having a big star, while a same art level film like Talvar will won't even do 50 Cr, absence of big commercial star. CDI had that Khan which was at his peak at that time, so it got huge success. Also, if u know, CDI was a slow starter, only that great Wom which converted it's run to big BlockBuster status.

Now we have advantage of biggest Screens, Fan will get biggest solo release, content + shah, it should do 200 cr minimum if not 300, while Raees from trailer is looking hard core commercial film, having shah's most successful negative character style, it should also succeed.

Not every film is meant to make 100 cr or 200 cr

There are different stories to tell which may not connect to most cine goers as in India people tend go to cinema hall to forget their miseries of life..Many people I know watch only comedy films in theater because their logic is why spend money to feel sad and depressed when my life is offering the same.

Doesn't mean that the films which succeed in BO has lesser content..Like this year two biggest hits BB or BM has loads of content..Even Piku or Badlapur also..Compare the budget and the outcome..they made big with content. Again the content which doesn't have mass connect.

Coming to FAN, the trailer looks very interesting to me..But most people/fans here gushing for Raees more than Fan. Raees can do more business because it looks more commercial. But to me it looks like another underworld movie. Not that its bad but the risk factor is higher in Fan.

So people are not exactly depending on only content. But its SAFE content they are relying on.
