Are SRK, Ranbir, Ranveer and SAK nobodies without Deepika?

So said one Deepika fan in the Dilwale review thread. Will they ever give a hit again without her? These are the exact words:

"Without SRK DP gave ramleela which made 114 crores..that is more than any SRK film without DP.

then there is YJHD,BajiRao Mastani..

It is also true that Ranbir and Ranveer to have made max BO numbers with DP...without her their films made less that hers.

She has given Saif,SRK and RK their biggest hits..That is her capacity.without her these actors have reached nowhere in terms of box office.

But I can also turn around and say that despite Deepika's super success and superstar status she is yet to give a film which has beaten her films with SRK. Or for that matter her films with Ranbir or Ranveer. Why did films like Piku, FF not have the super success Deepika's films with SRK or Ranbir or Ranveer? Why does she work with these people repeatedly and lobby for their films?

DP is a superstar only on this forum and in the minds of some of her fans. The fact is that there hasn't been a superstar since Aishwarya and Kareena. Is anyone here willing to bet that DP would still be a hot commodity in the next 2 years (and especially since she is turning 30). I highly doubt she will be here in the next 5 years cuz she is nothing special and is just ruling because there is no substantial challenge. Trust that her Hollywood (mis)adventure is going to bomb HARD!!! If Aishwarya couldn't do it with the sequel to a hit Pink Panther movie there is no way in hell that DP is going to achieve anything with D-list co-stars and especially with that atrocious accent. Rant over.

No indulge me and explain why is Deepika supposed to be lucky for her costars and not the other way round? She has worked with Akshay whose biggest hit is not with her. Same for Arjun. We know what a disaster her film with Rajnikanth was. Salman and Aamir who never worked with her have managed quiet well.

SRK has been lucky for lot of people...especially the actresses who made their debuts opposite him. So why cant it be that HE is lucky for Deepika who is yet to beat the films she has done with SRK?

Wow .. people think Ash and Kareena have been bigger superstars than Deepika. That's weird. Neither Ash nor Kareena has a good BO record .. both of them have had only a few hit films. Most of their films have not done that well. They just are popular off screen as well and hence, their longevity. Deepika, on the other hand, has been delivering hits for past few years. In the recent past, only Katrina (and to certain extent PC) can come close to Deepika's stardom.

On topic, Piku did well .. Fanny was a niche film. It would not have done that well at BO anyway because it was more like an Hinglish film for a very niche audience. And add to that, it was actually not that well made. I mean the concept itself was good and the films starts off well but then that's it .. there isn't much fun dialogues and it kinda starts dragging after a while. It was really not that well made a film. DP can help in bringing in more audience for a good film but don't think that she has the kind of a starpower where she can save a bad film. For that matter, even Khans can't guarantee that anymore.

So basically saying, DP + <a popular actor> = chances of better business for a good film.

That is ridiculous...SRK and other Khans are in a league of their own and have been around for 25 years...so how can one compare their star power with an actress who has been around 8 yrs?

That said, she has given Ranbir and Ranveer their biggest hits. Piku didn't work just bcoz of her, it worked bcoz most ppl loved the breezy, feel-good aspect of the film. Finding Fanny didn't flop as is believed - it was average. It started out on a good note in spite of being a non-commercial drama. The film performed extremely well in the urban centers. Finding Fanny ended its run with a decent collection of 35.91 crores at the domestic box office.

deepika hasn't delivered a flop apart from Tamasha in 3 years. And tamasha did a 40 crore weekend thanks to her star power. Put any other actress in Tamasha and the film wouldn't have done even 20 crores in openeing weekend as NONE of them ahve any star power worth sepaking of.

Facts, Facts, Facts. Deepika is the no. 1 actress in Bollywood and has been ruling the roost for quite some time. Aishwarya and Kareena superstars? LMAO. Even Kajol and Karisma despite having it all - and Aishwarya and Kareena are just good for over-acting. yes, Kajol, Karisma, Rani, preity, Katrina came very close to ruling but all of them had some flaws or the other. they were not all-rounders.

Truth is, Deepika is the biggest female superstar since Madhuri.
