I think the ques shud be otherway around...As in what you like about SLB films 😆 The only thing I love about his movies are the lavish sets, costumes and the gorgeous frames he creates. And the thing I hate the most about his movies is that he exaggerates the emotion of love too much. His movies are tragic, dark and miles away from reality.

Personally I LOVE the tragic endings to his films. They're so gripping. I still remember sitting in the cinema watching Devdas and that final scene with Paro running towards Dev and the epic background music, still gives me chills.

Except for HDDCS and BM, all SLB movies are trash. I couldn't even sit through Devdas. What an insult to my senses.

I couldn't sit thru Devdas either and I thought I was the only one... How could he ruin such a great classic, a great story alike that? His movies are pretentious, unnecessarily extravagant and loud...
I can't believe he is considered top filmmaker in India... Are the rest so bad ?!!

I always found Shakespeare pretentious and boring and in most cases hard to understand.
I feel SLB is Bollywoods Shakespeare kind of.

Its not that i dont like historicals or mythology..or period films. Zubeida was lovely. as was Junoon (Shashi Kapoor, nafisa Ali).

But i could not sit thru a Saawariya or that Hrithik Ash film and i was itching to get up during parts of Devdas.

Yes I liked Zubeida and Junoon too... He doesn't have the knack for period films... He manages to ruin even a great story

Bold - Interesting comparison 😆

He focuses on set design and look more than on content - that his biggest flaw. His films are good to look at but absolutely meaningless. In BM there was a little story which was good. But Sawariya, Ram Leela just pathetic. There was no story per e. He should focus more on content.
