That bit where Meera screams Kaali- i swear the whole theatre burst out laughing 🤣 And the cars and mansions in the film -way too much color..Was hilarious when Meera complimented Raj's house of all things cos it looked downright ridiculous 😆 And there were 2 times when i thought the film is over and then i realized there is more to it..Bad editing tbh cos they should have kept it more crisp..Despite all these negatives, i actually had fun 😆 I actually get why Kajol did this role..Its a lot different from most other roles she has done till date and she was kickass in that scene where she reveals herself..The premise was fine but as usual the script and direction was mediocre..Despite all that, their chemistry shone through..Janam Janam, that scene where they reconcile, the bickering and the dance & of course the last scene- insane chemistry..Am not even being biased here when am complimenting their chemistry cos i know am being biased while appreciating the film..Cos if not for them i would have hated it..But that chemistry is still pitch perfect..Even a bad script, mediocre direction, middle age and excessive bling cannot eclipse that..Its that good..Now just imagine if they ever do a great film with a brilliant director ( that would mean too much awesomeness for us to handle so thats probably why they stick to Karan, Rohit etc. 😆)..Anyways, i still hope they sign another film in the next couple of years with a good director cos that chemistry does not deserve to be wasted 😆

P.S. Varun got such loud cheers in the theatre..A bunch of girls next to me had come just to see him in the film 😆

In my theater it was Kajol who got maximum cheers and yes the last scene in the end.

Dude, in the theatre i went, even Kriti got loud cheers 😆 And the one scene which got max cheers was that bit where it starts raining right before Janam Janam starts 😆 And thanks to your review, i just realized Raj revealing his name to the goons was pointless cos no one knew who it was 😆 Rohit was totally trying to pull a Basha there ( Its an old Tamil film staring Rajnikanth with a similar concept- where he is a don in the past and then becomes an auto driver..That film was kickass though..Lot better than Dilwale 😆)..Anyways am digressing but yeah, the script had a lot of loopholes..Like i mentioned yesterday, if not for SRK-Kajol, this would have fallen flat..And am not sure if am in the minority but their chemistry here was a notch above MNIK esp. the second half 😆

Yes everyone got loud cheers starting with SRK. But I guess Kajol got the loudest as she was the last one to be shown. 😆Whenever a scene would come up which was shown in the trailer that would get loud cheers.
The happenings in the movie are simply too convenient. At the end you dont even get the point of being seperated for 15 years if Meera's dad's second in command had to tell her the truth as soon as she asked him.

Yes it was THAT bad
i am not writing a review

i am not riling up the fans

i am just expressing my utmost disappointment being an srk-kajol jodi fan..i feel cheated

i always knew it was a rohit shetty movie..so no i didnot expect a DDLJ here but even with my minimum possible expectations..it disappointed me

not a single moment where you can feel the magic of srk-kajol

no consistency in story..random scenes put together..

rohit shetty movies are not the best but even CE had a consistency and some good moments you take back..this one had nothing so far i watched it

too many characters..forced humour which falls flat on the face

all i can say is SRK-kajol jodi deserved a much much better script and director to come back together

i left 40 min post interval coz it got unbearable and i am still hoping for srk fans that it becomes a hit..but as an srk-kajol jodi fan..i am soo badly disappointed

And the fact that Varun-Kriti believed that ridiculous story about their past 🤣 Oh and Raj was such a doormat..Bechara 😆 Ready to forgive anything and everything..Credit to Kajol for making me root for Raj-Meera cos i swear i would have preferred Raj not taking her back (atleast not so soon) if it was someone else😆 Though a lot of it makes zilch sense, i actually had fun..I would have been disappointed if all this impacted their chemistry but it din't..And that last scene- they looked their best- not overtly made up yet extremely endearing..A mature love story with a good director please 😆

I still believe he is the Best Actor of his generation...i wish i could slap some sense into this guy!! He won't ask Vishal or Raju to make a movie for him but he would ask Rohit & Farah who ride on his star power???
Pathetic this guy is!!!😡

That's the rant majority of shahrukh fans seem to have with him.

@ bold that's the reason we seem to forgive him all the time. I have to say in Dilwale he was perfect performance wise and look-wise too and that probably overtakes all the negatives of the film for me 😳 and the reason i am really looking forward to Raees.

@Blue- let's hope the wish comes true 😡

My review:

Ok so where do I start...this isnt really a review but more of a rant and will contain spoilers.
I really didnt have much expectations from this film based on RS' past films...but still ended up disappointed. The biggest let down was I think the screenplay. The film was primarily saved by the actors, action sequences and some funny scenes here and there. But the film could do with lots of changes.
I think the main problem was trying to fit in so many stars and characters and justifying their presence. No one is really wasted...not even Kriti so thats a consolation for the actors. Heck even the girl who played Varun Sharma's girlfriend had something to do.
The two love stories were very very thanda. Nothing is properly established. Everything is just too convenient. From meeting to falling in love to seperating to reuniting. I mean Veer is scared to tell his brother about Ishita. But his brother accepts it the moment Ishita tells him and the next scene he is ready to meet Ishita's family too. I mean they just started dating and whose families meet at such a stage? Everyone is sitting and overhearing everything else.
The last conflict between Raj and Meera is conveniently solved. Why was Raghav quiet for 15 years? And the climax was so stupid. There was no need for Boman's character at all. Only thing he did was let Raj and Veer flex their muscles in the current time. And finally Veer or Ishita dont even know about their sibling's mafia past. I also didnt get why Raj tells King's men that he is Kaali when it doesnt even ring a bell to King? There were many such things...I will stop ranting now and focus on the good.
SRK: OH MY GOD! He looked so hot with the beard. I thought he looked hot in JTHJ but he looked hotter here. And I loved his figure here...fit and fabulous. That scene when he comes with the hoodie and beats up the baddies was fantastic. He was so badass there...mark my words he is going to rock it in Raees. Acting wise he did a good job. I think one of his best in recent years. His action scenes had an extra edge. I think Rohit Shetty focused on him in the action scenes vs Varun.
Kajol: She was fabulous in her revelation scene...so badass. No wonder SRK said its his favorite scene. She stole the scene many times. I did feel though her makeup was not good. Looked over madeup in most scenes. But she was also let down by the poor screenplay which probably did most injustice to her character.
Varun: Not a fan of his but I felt he was pretty decent. He didnt get anything here to do which he hasnt done before. I feel though he can be a versatile actor. He must try more serious roles. He was good in the serious. The scene where he is trying to tell Raj about Ishita was hilarious and he has good comic timing.
Kriti: Now I had no expectations from her but she surprised me. Apart from the Manma Emotion song she was decent thoughout the movie. I wish they had added Premika too. It was needed to add more of the youthful chemistry flavor Varun and Kriti were supposed to bring.
Chemistry: Needless to say SRK-Kajol have an effortless chemistry which was very much rocking in the film. Wish the screenplay was better though.
Comic scenes: Mostly comic scenes are highlights of RS films. This was a let down here. There were a few funny scenes here and there like the Raj-Veer scene or the scene when Veer talks to Ramlal the dhobi. Others were meh.
Action: The action was mindblowing in the film. Especially the ones which involved SRK from the chase sequences in Bulgaria to the Goa action scenes. They didnt blow up as many cars as other RS films.
Final verdict: I will say its a one time watch for SRK-Kajol. I do hope that they work together soon in a proper film revolving around them.
Rating: 2.5/5

Do you think Kajol has a chance at the awards? 😕 I mean if she can win for that crappy MNIK can she win for this one?

In my theater, Kajol and Janam Janam along with whole Gerua song sequence got the loudest cheers !! Janam Janam security had to come inside the theater and ask to tone it down..

This cant be last SRK Kajom film together.. I dont need them to end in a gangster plot.. It should be something like K3G or good story like MNIK!!
