Same people wrote same essays before Tamasha we saw what happened. He doesnt have hero quality he is niche actor with very very limited range and limited fanbase.

Maybe with ADHM. It's a KJo film with a fresh pairing (Aish - Biru) & music is done by Pritam.

One major difference between Abhishek and RK is RK is much more charismatic and better actor than Abhi...if he flops in next few years I think he will quit acting but don't see him taking roles like d3, hny etc like abhi...but one big hit and he will be back...tamasha was never going to work as its slow and different and not fast paced ordinary rom com like yjhd...in spite of not doing so good at bo I think it will have positive impact on rk's career as an actor...he was so good compared to his recent movie duds like roy, bv etc...where movie and rk both were bad...he have won back confidence of many audiences at least that he is indeed a very good actor...although jj sounds like bomb before release only..ADHM might give him the hit he needs

You guys are forgetting BV was not directed by KJO. KJO directs HIT films, student of the year had newcomers and it was a hit film so don't forget KJO knows good songs and glamour. Ranbir even said the BEST songs are in the movie

He's working with GOOD directors who delivered Hit films whether it's basu, kjo or hirani. Hirani only had blockbuster hit to his credit

There's already a dearth of leading stars today. Take the veterans and HR out, and you're left with Ranbir, Shahid (let's count him), Ranveer, and Varun.

His family is engrained in Hindi cinema folklore, so he'll continue getting roles. The only thing is - can he become a genuine superstar?

He's a very good actor. I like to call him poor man's Aamir and that's good enough in Bollywood. He should take Aamir's path. It took Aamir 20 years to become the #1 star of India, so all is not lost as long as he balances good cinema with commercial movies.

People are too blinded by their favorites to realize how the Khans suffered from similar criticism back in the early-mid 90s.

Until Karan Arjun, the industry considered Salman a chocolate-boy actor. They didn't think he'd ever be able to do macho roles. That changed when Salman delivered huge performances as a man-with-a-mission in KA and Veergati.

Until Rangeela, Aamir was considered mainly a lover boy who could never carry a film on his back. The perception changed with Rangeela.

Until DDLJ, SRK was always considered an actor who'd excel in anti-hero roles, but would never be the ideal Bollywood hero. After DDLJ, everything changed for SRK.

While Ranbir hasn't delivered such stupendous Hits as the Khans did during their first 5 years, he has less competition today. Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Govinda, Akshay, Ajay, etc. were bigger than the Khans at one point. For Ranbir, everyone accepts that he can't compete with the Khans, so there's leeway for him.

I don't know whether ADHM or JJ fall in the category of movies that'd propel Ranbir forward, but for someone who's done Ajab Prem or Barfi, it's not really bleak.

Imran didn't have the acting nor the charisma to carry a movie. Ranbir does have the acting prowess. He's not as charismatic as the Khans and has a bore personality, but he's proven that he can act. He needs to improve now.

Bollywood fans prefer actors who they can relate to. Who really can relate to the likes of Ranbir or Imran? One looks like a druggie and the other looks like a rich man's son who's never stepped out of his luxurious home.

Salman had a Veergati long before he became associated with action movies. SRK had RBGGM long before DDLJ. Aamir had delivered a stunner in Raakh before he built an image of an actor associated with good films.

You sow the seeds today and reap it later on. Even flops like Raakh, Khamoshi, Dil Se, etc. helped Khans in the longer run than Hits like Sanam Bewafa/Saajan, DHKMN/HHRPK, or Yes Boss/DTPH.

I feel these people born with silver-spoon in their mouths don't understand the meaning of hard work and determination. That's why we've barely seen a star kid since HR (his father wasn't a big star anyway) to challenge the Khans and create a niche for themselves.

Apart from Rishi Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, etc., what other star kids have ever succeeded in that scale? I can't think of any.

I'm hoping ADHM does well for Aish and Ranbir and even Anushka for that matter...I have my doubt with JJ
