In an interview with a leading news channel, Shah Rukh Khan further clarified his stance on the remarks he made about rising intolerance in the country. On his 50th birthday, Shah Rukh had spoken about how he felt that intolerance was on the rise in the country landing him in soup with many groups who believed that his comments were unnecessary.

However in the interview, the actor further clarified his stance on the issue and stated that even while he had made his original comments, he had always been clear that Bollywood stars got everything in their life because of the country. He also spoke about how thankful he was for all that he had received being a part of the country and the film industry.
However SRK refused to comment on the controversy surrounding fellow actor Aamir's recent comments regarding the same topic, citing the reason that he could only talk about his own views.
SRK also talked about how he has taught his kids that the path to progress is one without fear and that they should be open-minded and educated and be without bias with regard to religion, sex, caste and creed and that he believed India to be a very modern country.
