I didn't know Aamir was so important in India.
What has he done apart from doing films tht is so substantial to do all of this?

This "Aamir incident" as I call it is exactly what is wrong with India right now.

How is Indian intolerant just because people are uninstalling the app? If this is intolerance, then maybe the people who were returning the awards were intolerant in the first place and not the country as such. Returning the awards was their peaceful way of protest, and returning the app is common man's peaceful way of protest against AK's comment. Seriously, peaceful protests are not part of intolerant countries and it does not makes anyone intolerant. It is just a sign of very healthy democracy. If people were intolerant, they would have thrown AK and his family out of the country. That is intolerance. Peaceful way of disagreeing with someone is not intolerance.

I don't get this hoo-haa...He's an indian who expressed his displeasure of India and he's being crucified because...???
This reminds me a lot of the incident of people who were bashing Freida Pinto when she spoke out against rapes in India. Like, W*F? Why does everything need to be candy-glossed? Is reality that difficult to face? How do you expect change to occur if you don't talk about it?

Crucified? Really? He has his opinion and other people have their own opinion .. they disagree. How is that crucifixion?
There is a reason that SnapDeal would have initially chosen AK as their brand ambassador. People liked AK and he endorsed a site - people who like AK might go to the site because they like what AK does. That was never an issue, right? But now that people have a different viewpoint than AK, they have as much a right to not use the site/app as much as they had earlier to use it just because of AK. Why should this be an issue now?
Exactly - not everything has to be candy-glossed. Not every actor and each one of his comments have to be praised. He is not the only one in the country who has a right of opinion. Other people have the same rights. Sometimes they agree and praise, sometimes they disagree and they move on to other apps/sites.
I am guessing when Aamir spoke his mind on this issue, he probably knew that there are some people who have a different opinion than his. It was his right of speech and thinking that made it okay for him to say anything he wanted to. I have literally no issues with that. Should he have kept quiet just because other people may have a different opinion? NO, that would have been wrong (I don't think he even bothered about others opinions). Should other people, who were using snapdeal because they liked AK, continue to like him even when they don't like him anymore? NO, these people have their rights too.

No one is getting crucified. They are all expressing their opinions and making their choices peacefully.

He's being crucified in the sense that there are people writing long, drawn out articles that he is a hypocrite, he's anti-patriotic, anti-nationalist, registering FIRs against him and protesting among other things that may or may not include verbal assault. From what I gather, everyone else is allowed to have their opinion, and he isn't? He's labeled a traitor...why? He's Indian, FFS. If he can't feel secure in his own country and cannot voice his opinion there, where can he? Why can't there be a mature discussion? why is he being labeled?
I don't care if Snapdeal drops him. It's common practice for celebs to get dropped if the masses disagree with what the star represents. My issue is: why is there an issue at all?

What!!! this thing is still dragging on?What is wrong with India?? Don't they have anything better to focus their energies on?? One actor said something that they did not like, okay but now move on??While these fools were all getting butthurt over something that an actor said, the people who really matter and who really are supposed to do something are getting away with doing nothing and laughing about the foolish citizens who get easily distracted...
This is why India is still a developing country and not one of the super powers of the world, despite being the country with biggest percentage of youth!!!

If they expressed even half of this rage on the real issues, India would have been wayyy ahead of the so called super powers of the world...

There is nothing wrong with India. South Asian people in general are more emotional people, not constrained like in West. In west, a celebrity can walk have a normal fun time in beach with the family. Not possible here.
Here when people like a celebrity, they adore him like God. If they get angry they don't mind to stamp on him. There are instances, where people had built temples for their famous actress in South, when she was in her peak. Then she said something or did something which made the people angry. Then they went and destroyed those temples. 😆 😆. Expressions are always extreme here. When someone has enjoyed the high, they should be prepared to take lows too.

East and west are two different cultures. One has more expressiveness. Other does not. Let's not be judgemental and call one culture superior over other. We do not understand, how a mother could calmly read out a letter praying for her son who has been killed, to rest in peace. Here, a single word will not come from a sobbing mom. That does not mean, one does not have a heart, other does. One expresses through word, other emotionally.

As long as the protests are non violent, why criticise? One can use the word cruisification, if the person fears for his life and takes shelter in another country (like Tasleema Nazreen or M.F.Hussein). Amir will not do any such thing. He will just be quiet for a month. He knows, people's anger may flare up high, but it is short lived. In fact, Shivasena antics never reaches him. (It only gives Shivsena members a bit of publicity). Snapdeal is the only thing which could have affected his pocket.
