It's because he's a psycho himself in real life. I had read one of his interview that said he never brushes his hair. He is decent looking should get a hair cut and brush it.

I had a big argument with my sister the other day about this. All of his characters are same to me. He shows the internal conflict of characters and unfortunately I can't relate to them at all. He does a terrible job at showing their growth.

I think the most relatable characters were Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met...and that's where it ended.

Possibly..

Abhay Deol in SNT..frustrated for what reason?

Bebo and Shahid in JWM..both sneaking away from family..

DP was unhappy in London ,wanted to go to India..Saif was unhappy and dreamt of going to USA..both were unhappy there too.

Rockstar-Nargis wanted an escape.. and RK 😕

Alia is kidnapped by goons..and she feels free!

and Surprise Surprise-RK and DP both run away from their boring lives to Corsica and live their fantasy pretending to be people they are not,in real life.

I agree with the topic maker..

Family, marriage hold no importance..their pain, worry, sorrow is of no concern.Betrayal is acceptable..

Self above all..selfish,self obsessed heroes and heroines🤢

I liked Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met ..it was nice, so pleasant and unique to me. But I think I could watch Rockstar 100 times and still not understand what Imtiaz was thinking when he created Ranbir's character 🤣

Most of his characters face first world problems!

Who to marry, whether to love or go on a world tour, whether to break up or keep in touch etc etc!

I think it was good until Jab We Met coz though he portrayed confusion in his characters in those films, there were always someone balancing them out.
For instance, in SNT Abhay and Aisha didn't know what they want and then suddenly changed their minds BUT the family element was constant and strong throughout the film with principle characters. They balanced out the chaos with their more relatable and practical thoughts.

Same with JWM.
While Geet was all about living her life her way and doing what her heart wished and living on the edge, Aditya was the perfect foil. He was practical and a staunch believer of the everyday rituals of life. In the end, Imtiaz showed a great balance in how neither approach in extremes is the best idea. Aditya was miserable with the way he lived his life with regulation, and Geet also eventually crashed with her lifestyle. The best approach perhaps lies somewhere in between the two, which is the balance they struck at the end.

Post that though, his films have lost the balanced characters.
Love Aaj Kal, both leads were impulsive and made rash decisions. The family element was nonresistant in the film. No one to provide the alternative way of life.

Rockstar was also all about cheating and affairs.
