The movie looks blah frankly speaking. Even the music is making an impact on select few. No universal appeal. Pimpled boy will develop more pimples over the ever increasing stress...😭

Imtiaz Ali has made good movies before, why will he fail to deliver this time? Hes not a one hit wonder like Vikas Behl.
I hate it how in the media, only the Khan movies are hyped and predicted BO success and all other actors movies are trashed even before they release, whether its Ranbir or Shahid or Akshay or Ajay.

I have to disagree with bold.

Shaandaar was expected to be Shahid's first 100 cr film.
Brothers and Singh is Bling were expected to be huge hits for Akshay.
Drishyam was a more off-beat film for Ajay, but it was expected to dig into Bajrangi Bhaijaan collections if the content was strong.
Dil Dhadhakne Do was suppose to be a big summer hit.
Bombay Velvet was at least expected to take a better opening for Ranbir then it did.

So far this year has been known as the year of disappointments at the box office. There would be no reason for disappointments if BO wise the media didn't have expectations in any of these films to begin with.

Shaandar was over promoted by its makers, its budget was too high, they were desperate for a hit.
They also knew their product wasnt that good, hence the frenzied promotions.
BV was just a horrible movie, so it was a disaster inspite of all the promotions.
Akshay does too many movies in a year so they all do average business, but didnt SIB have a good opening and collections?😕
Off beat movies like Drishyam dont stand a chance against blockbusters.
DDD was a dud, I watched it, wasnt half as entertaining as ZNMD.

Maybe Imtiaz is confident of his product, so hes not overhyping it... and its a fact that Ranbir Deepika pairing is still very popular and will draw initial crowds.

On this forum, the Khan movies are hyped to the skies and BO success is predicted for them. But the other actors' movies are trashed even before release. I have seen people gloating and celebrating the failure of movies of the actors that I have mentioned. They are eveready to diss any other actors movies.

You didn't get my point. You said films which don't star Khans are bashed by media before release. I was pointing out how media did expect something from these films before release. After release is a completely different story. Obviously in hindsight you can say why things didn't work out.

Before BV released, despite the negativity, looking at Besharam and Roy opening it was at least expected to have a bigger opening.

SIB didn't hit 100 cr. I think it made the least amount at the box office out of all Akki's releases this year. But Brothers and SIB were expected to be hits.

I don't think Ajay had any other release this year, that's why I named Drishyam. And obviously Drishyam BO collections wouldn't compare with BB. But because it was a remake of a successful South film and content was doing well this year, there were still expectations it would do well enough. It did do decent business. And that's a big deal coming a week after BB.

Maybe Imtiaz is confident of his product, so hes not overhyping it... and its a fact that Ranbir Deepika pairing is still very popular and will draw initial crowds.

But you didn't say this forum, you said media. That's what I based my post on. This forum is certainly not the same as the media. Personally I don't take what people do or say on this forum very seriously, so if you did mean this forum then feel free to ignore my post. 😆

I personally found the trailer really boring but the songs are nice and if promotions are done well, i will at last get a good opening, more lie Shandaar than katti Batti.
It all depends on WOM now...that plays a big role these days. case in point: Talvar, which is a really big hit in its own framework.

If the movie is good, it will be a hit. If its mellow trash like some of Imtiaz's movies en it doesn't stand achance.

Actually I meant to say THIS forum bashes and disses all non Khan movies but the media also does ignore the other actors movies to a large extent.

They certainly dont take so many interviews of the other actors, they dont write so much abt their movies and if they do then they are negative ones.

Take this particular article for example, its saying the team of Tamasha is panicking...why would they say that? Negative publicity for Ranbir's film? While they are frothing at the mouth abt the PRDP publicity juggernaut?
Tamasha promotions have not even started in full swing and maybe Imtiaz and Ranbir Deepu wont promote it that aggressively and just leave it to WOM.

BTW, 2 underhyped movies did make it big this year, TWMR and Piku.
Talwar also did very well...so it all comes down to WOM based on CONTENT!
Content rules, Shandar flopped because content was bad...inspite of huge promotions by Dharma.

EXACTLY. But know what? Piku worked becasue of WOM completely.TMWR at least had a pre-release buzz. So did Shandaar and Katti Batti, but tghey flopped deservedly becaseu of bad content.

Unfortunately, many stars of this generation don't have a real fan base unlike Khans, Akki, HR. Their films work becasue of content. Ranbir was a really big star pre Besharam, but his next 3 films flopped because of really bad content. He is a star, nevertheless.

I know its all abt content and WOM...I added this part to my post above:

"Talwar also did very well...so it all comes down to WOM based on CONTENT!

My point is let the movie release, read the reviews, see how audiences react to Tamasha and then declare it a bummer. Why do these articles do negative publicity of non Khan movies before they release?

BTW, Akki and HR are not spared either, Akki's movies are brutally panned if they are not up to the mark...the amount of hype the Khans get, do Akki and HR get that? I dont think so...its totally the 3 Khans monopoly in BW.
