I would call it more ambiguous than confusing...It was one of those dialogues that weren't overt and as I like to think of it...almost whimsical in nature...so assuredly Rahul repeats that line many times in the film...ki pyar bhi ek hi baar hota hai...but I like how he himself doesn't know the full WEIGHT and scope of that line...
KKHH was about idealistic love in many ways...I like to think of that line as open to interpretation...cuz do we only really love just once in life? Maybe the KJo of that time would like to believe so, hence projected it as such...but over time he also seemed to realize that that was a somewhat idealistic, hence almost foolish notion about love...Love has many shades, layers and complications to it...and many interpretations too...we like to idealize it through stories but ultimately it runs on basic human nature and need for companionship...which will manifest differently at different stages of life.
Anyways not to go off on too many philosophical tangents😆...it is easier for the audience to believe that Rahul didn't love anyone other than Anjali cuz that would be difficult to swallow😆...but I feel he loved Tina too, just in a different way...and that adds to the layers of this story to me, not taking away from the depth of his love for Anjali too...that is the beauty of relationships.
