Besides Khan no one can carry a souless films on their arms

But
do you think if there was Varun instead of RK or Priyaka instead of DP - The film would have done the same business?
Fact that RK - DP were coming back first time onscreen after their high profile breakup made people notice the film... then the trailers, dialogue promos, SONGS , look - everything worked in its favour will culminated in film being success! One 'factor' can never make a film a success nor a failure

Music + chemistry between leads + for my bestie's sake cuz she used to be a big Ranbir buff those days and dragged me to watch it 😆

The story was very plain and straightforward
i was waiting thourhgout the whole movie for something dramatic to happen to make it more interesting but it didnt happen

The songs r a big reason why the movie did so well, every song was a hit and big credit to pritam for making such a great album

scenery was beautiful, but one of the biggest problems i had was with the characters bunny and naina, how they fell in love? why they fell in love? I just didnt get it, the friendships were shown much better than the love story

and the final scene was underwhelming, he just walked through casually through the door into her house as if nothing has happened lol

but i guess it appealed to the younger audience, it was a frothy love story, and coz rk-dp were coming back onscreen

Varun made ABCD2 work the movie was terrible had terrible reviews the music was not as popular as YJHDs still it made over a 100 cr. Shraddha is no big star. Aashiqui2 had no crowd pullers it was one of the biggest hit of the year with the best ROI percentage of 2013.

I don't know the answer either. I didn't like the film personally.

@Bold
Ditto! While watching it I thought they should have renamed the movie to 'Bunny's Story' or something cuz the entire thing was about him plus I just did not get why Deepika's character falls for the guy. Since I couldn't fathom anything I told myself "Love is blind so shush you" 😆

I thought it was a fabulous movie! There was romance but not a fairytale one. Both of them pursued their dreams and did not let their attractions for each other get in the way. It is hard to digest a story which is realistic compared to all those OTT fairytale DDLJ kinda romance in most of the movies. The evolving relationship between 4 friends, over a span of 8 years...

I thought YJHD was a masterpiece.

Exactly!

Though i remmember how after Katrina,Sonam was the 2nd choice.I'm glad Sonam wasn't in this crap.😆

There was a reason this movie was a blockbuster. Bunny and Naina were SIZZLING and oh so cute. Both Biru and Deepika were at their peak and it was just such an amazing movie! The music was really good too.
Not everyone can like every hit movie so that's fine. Also, if music were to make a movie a hit, then every Emran Hashmi movie would be a blockbuster

True 😆
I mean yeah YJHD was pretty stupid and cliched at times but I guess it hit the spot for people who like predictable rom-coms. Great music helps to an extent but it can't solely make a movie a hit. For example Roy, it had a good opening figure but crashed like there's no tomorrow cause people didn't like the film.
