DDD- Really boring characters

Okay I just finished watching DDD. I think the main problem with the movie was the characters were really boring. If you are making a movie which heavily relies on plots and people relationships then you need good entertaining characters.
Anil Kapoor was good at start but got pretty much lost in the plot. After establishing him as a successful businessman who is seeing a hard time, they couldn't do much more for him.

Ranveer was really boring. Anushka had like no role. The girl who vomited had better written role than Anushka. I dont think Priyanka's character was well written. On one hand you are showing her as a women who sold her jewellery to start a business and is now in top10 women in India. On the other you are showing her a cry baby constantly crying about how she has no family, no good husband, etc.

As for farahan, oh man. He really was a big let down. When they introduce a main character at such a late point in the story, then the character's purpose is to basically steal the show and bring a new life in the plot. But farahan was really really boring. You hardly cared about him and priyanka.

But most importantly you are creating a movie completely based on first world problems. You don't expect people to show compassion when your business is failing and you take 15 people on a cruise vacation for some stupid anniversary. I mean yes, people like this are there all over India today. They have huge loans overdue, failing business yet they drive the latest car. People don't feel sorry for them. They talk about their character behind their backs.

The rich son bitching how dad is selling the plane was really funny and stupid. He is a grown man and not a kid. Son your factory has gone to dogs. Even banks doesn't want to extend any loans to you. You should either get on find an investor or just STUF.

I think the only character which was well written was of Rahul Bose. Successful businessman who had mind in his right place. Controllable husband and not emotional when it comes to investments. You can't deny that these kind of husbands exists. They are successful, rich and are very controllable of their wives.

You are spot on! Really I didnt like the movie at all none of the characters are relatable and I was just waiting for the movie to get over. I just watched it because of the hype. Same with Zindagi na mile doobara - I was just falling asleep. Both of Zoya's movies are just so pseudo intellectual - I think people like them because it would be so embarrassing to say you dont like them since people are unnecessarily hyping the movies as relationships so well portrayed etc etc. But actually the dialogues in both movies are so insipid, the movies drag on trying to be cool but they are not. I dont think I'll watch any more Zoya movies - the scripts are poor and direction is poor. Gave two of them a chance but just didnt like either.

ZNMD worked because they showed a journey. The movie was boring but I think it wasn't that bad. DDD was plain ridiculous and it failed.

I agree. Didn't even watch DDD but the trailer itself was a snoozefest. So not wasting 3 hours of my time.

ZNMD was strictly ok, nothing spectacular like people made it out to be. It was super cliched and a Hindi copy of so many Hollywood epiphanic films.

Not really just boring characters but boring film as well. I don't understand what people liked about Shefali. She was nothing special in the film. Like you said Anil was good but he also started being boring. Same with Ranveer- I thought his character was fun in the begining but then he looses his mojo too somewhere in the middle of the film. Anu was pretty much a waste. She was doing a comeo in the film. Though I did enjoy her chemistry and scenes with Ranveer.

I really don't understand why PC took up this role. It was neither challenging or added to her filmography. Pretty forgettable film and performance.

IMO ZNMD was so much better than this film. It at least had a lot of fun moments. And the characters in ZNMD were so much more interesting than DDD characters.
