Sharat Katariya's Next
After the super success of Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Sharat Katariya was bombarded with offers before he decided to work with Yash Raj Films. Although he had penned many concept films, he has settled for a small-town love story with YRF. Katariya believes in making low-budget films as this allows him to get creative.
He remarks, "I am working on a script but cannot reveal anything about it." After a film hits the jackpot, filmmakers typically plan a sequel. So will we see a sequel to his superhit, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar? "No, my film doesn't end with the beginning of a sequel. So there is no chance of making a sequel. Some stories cannot be stretched." Point taken!
Rocky Handsome Is Complete
There was talk in the trade that Rocky Handsome, being directed by Nishikant Kamat, has been postponed as Welcome Back is releasing on September 4 and actor John Abraham didn't want another release so soon (October 2). But a source close to the film clarifies, "The last schedule of Rocky Handsome concluded only recently and the makers realised that post-production would take some time. So they postponed the film's release date." Now the film will release in the first half of 2016.
Amit Trivedi Quits
Amit Trivedi is one of the most sought-after music composers today. But Trivedi is very choosy about the films he does and doesn't like too many composers working on the same film. He prefers to do the entire album. Trivedi was approached by Excel Entertainment for their film Baar Baar Dekho!,which went on the floors in London recently. But the composer, who had almost completed the music of the film, made an exit right before the film went on the floors.
A source close to Trivedi reveals, "Director Nitya Mehra and Amit Trivedi were not on the same page and creative differences between them were growing every day. Therefore, Trivedi decided to quit the film before it started rolling."
Section 84 Postponed?
Raj Kumar Gupta was all set to start his next film titled Section 84 featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead. The director was also ready to start rolling as he had a leading corporate house backing his film. But, to his surprise, the leading lady made a quick exit without even explaining herself. As a result, Gupta approached a few other leading actresses but none had dates to allot for at least a year. Now the director is wondering whether to wait and start writing his next film in the meantime.
The film is based on a woman who suffers from schizophrenia. As soon as she steps out of the mental asylum, she finds herself at the centre of a crime.
Baaghi Nearing Completion
Tiger Shroff, who made his debut last year with Heropanti, is shooting for his next Baaghi. The film is being directed by Sabbir Khan and features Shraddha Kapoor as the leading lady. We hear that Shroff is working very hard as the film calls for some fancy footwork from him as well as some action. A source close to the film reveals, "Two songs will be shot in Kochi, and then the cast and crew goes to Thailand for the last schedule. Then some patchwork will be done in Mumbai." The film is scheduled to release on April 29, 2016.
Guess Who?
Now this is just too much! Having a corporate house, that's backing you, involved every step of the way while you're making a film is par for the course. But too much involvement can result in a bad product. And we've seen this happen time and again. This time, the self-obsessed honcho is the head of this corporate house, who believes he is a master when it comes to screenplay. Result: He's meddling in every department of this film.
Sources close to a recently released film backed by the same corporate house say that the honcho was present on location during that film as well! He would sit in front of the monitor and ask the director to change shots according to his whims. Thankfully, the director would patiently listen to the suggestions but never let them interfere with his work.
Now, isn't that just too much?
Madari Due On Dec 4
All that's left before wrapping Nishikant Kamat'sMadari, a socio-political drama featuring Irrfan and Jimmy Sheirgill, is the shooting of one song, which has been composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film will release on December 4 and will clash with Wazir. Producer Sailesh Singh remarks, "Yes, we are planning to release the film on December 4. I don't know about other releases but Madari is very heavy on content and Irrfan has his own fan following."
PS: It must be noted that Nishikant Kamat's Rocky Handsome and Bejoy Nambiar's Wazir were to release on the same date, October 2. As it turns out, Kamat will still lock horns with Nambiar, only not with Rocky Handsome, but Madari, on December 4.
