PROGRAM NOTE

Set in one of the world's most troubled regions, the India-Pakistan border, this film tells the story of six-year-old Shahida, a smart, mute girl who lives in a small village in Pakistan. One day, on the way to New Delhi, she loses track of her mother and finds herself alone. She soon meets Pawan, who, unable to communicate with the girl, becomes curious as to who she is and where she is from. Seeing that Shahida eats chicken, he assumes she is of the Kshatriya caste. Then, seeing her wrap her head in a Muslim temple, he assumes she is Muslim. And finally, seeing her cheer for the Pakistani baseball team, he assumes she is Pakistani. It will be a challenging journey for Pawan, a faithful Hindu, to cross the border, but he decides to do so in order to find Shahida's mother. A box office hit in India, Bajrangi Bhaijaan became the second highest-grossing film in the country (third highest including international markets) just 20 days after its release . (PARK Jin-hee)

Kabir KHAN

Kabir Khan is a filmgraduate from Delhi University's Kirori Mal College. In 2006 we won the National award for best New Director for Kabul Express. Ek Tha Tiger (2012) became a box office hit and went on the 2nd highest grossing film of all time in the Indian Film industry. His latest film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) is already one of the biggest grossers in Indian cinema.
