That's actually true. While he has had success with other banners and directors he is mostly known or became a star, or superstar if you will, from movies his dad made for him. If you take all of Rakesh Roshan's movies out of his filmography, where would he be today with K3G, D2, JA, ZNMD, and then a Guzaarish, Mission Kashmir, MPKDH, Yaadein etc?

Well, obviously I am not 100% sure. I mostly base my opinions on what I see, read and hear (just like other people on this forum do).
And if they were then it was not as blatantly obvious as it is with Alia.

Will most outside new comers get to star in a big budget film with a popular director for their debut

It was a pretty good debute for Ranbir alongside Salman and Rani Mukherjee. Even then it flopped but he was given a second chance.

Most new comers are cast with lesser known female debuts/directors without any big names in the film. If it flops they find it very tough.

Even his back to back flops recently and Ranbir is still doing movies. Even interfering in the creative side. Jaga Jasoos he wants to flash his arse.

Doesn't sound like someone worried about getting films.

Yes but a writer's son doesn't carry the hype that an actor's son does. Especially in mind of audience.

Many commoners still don't know Salman is son of that Salim who wrote Sholay. Infact only now people realised they were 2 different persons. Earlier those who did not follow film news, didn't even know Salim Javed was not 1 person but a team of 2.

Actors have instant recall. Not writers or fight masters though they might get better chances by industry insiders.

Yes. Really.

That's because there was no 24/7 media. Film magazines were few and not everybody bought them. No internet either. So an average person knew far less about film people than people of today's times. All they knew were actors. Or at best 3-4 popular singers of that time. Newspapers also didn't cover entertainment in a big way as they cover now.
So not everybody noticed the hyphen between Salim-Javed.

No.

He's not really a star kid per say as his father was never a star. He was a flop actor who resorted to directing producing because his acting career didn't of anywhere. So in that regard Hrithik is in the same boat as Aamir and Salman.

I think his acting is over rated. I think while he has a very beautiful face something about his features seem too perfect and unnatural too me so overall I don't find him as attractive or handsome as a lot of others. He's a great dancer but once again his dancing is too perfect. You don't get the feeling for the fun and essence of the song because you are too busy watching his fluid body. Overall I enjoy Shahid's dances in JWM much more than Hrithik's in D2.

He seems to be hard working and deserves his success. But I don't think he's the only one who deserves it, or that he necessarily deserves it more than other industry kids. I'm sure India is full of handsome talents wonderful dancers. Fact is Hrithik like many others before him, and many others after him, got his chances and his major launch because of his family.

And Sid is actor? Hrithik is Superstar and talented unlike some overrated wanabe actors.
